The IT Software Engineer 2 is a self-managed, emerging IT professional responsible for feature development within specific domains or component sets. This role requires an individual who can make sound technical decisions based on end-to-end impact, data, and hands-on experience, while demonstrating clear ownership of the development and design lifecycle. The Software Engineer 2 operates with moderate independence, contributing directly to team outcomes while building the depth of expertise needed to progress toward more senior technical roles. This pivotal role is responsible for driving the technical design, implementation, and reliability of our next-generation Customer Experience (CX) orchestration platforms, centered on AWS, Genesys Cloud, and Salesforce Service Cloud.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Make informed technical decisions based on end-to-end impact, historical data, and prior experience within assigned domains.
  • Take ownership of the development and design process for assigned systems or components, ensuring solutions are functional, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Lead feature development efforts with minimal oversight from senior engineering staff.
  • Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams (product, QA, design, and other engineering pods) to align on technical solutions and delivery timelines.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing and incorporating constructive feedback to uphold software quality standards.
  • Contribute to and maintain technical documentation, ensuring knowledge is captured and shared across the team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex technical issues within a specific discipline or component set.
  • Provide basic mentorship and guidance to junior engineers or less experienced team members.
  • Support portions of larger team initiatives while independently leading smaller project components.
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and risks to team leads in a timely manner to avoid schedule delays.

What you’ll need to be successful:

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 3 – 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years focused on high-scale Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS), CX enterprise software of Field Services enterprise software.
  • Experience with AWS Services and CI/CD pipelines for cloud native or CCaaS application deployments.
  • Experience designing and building reliable workflows and integrations in major CRMs, specifically Salesforce.
  • Advanced programming proficiency across multiple languages and frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of system design and architecture principles.
  • Demonstrated experience taking features from design through implementation and deployment.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, particularly for documentation and cross-team coordination.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States, with the exception of Alaska. #LI-Remote

DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive and fully supports efforts to attract and retain employees. It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $111,122 - $201,653

Low (N1): $111,122 - $166,583

Mid (N2): $116,970 - $175,350

High (N3): $128,667 - $192,885

Top (N4): $134,516 - $201,653
