JOB SUMMARY
The BMC Developer is responsible for leading BMC firmware development, integration, and optimization across complex server and platform products. This role provides technical ownership for management firmware features, drives issue closure, and ensures platform manageability, stability, and release readiness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead development and integration of BMC firmware capabilities across one or more product programs, including management interfaces, monitoring, logging, and control features.
- Define technical approach, design tradeoffs, and implementation strategy for BMC firmware in alignment with platform and customer requirements.
- Drive bring-up, debug, and closure of complex BMC and system management issues across hardware and firmware boundaries.
- Own firmware quality and readiness through regression planning, defect closure discipline, and support for release decisions.
- Collaborate with BIOS, Electrical, Systems, Validation, and other cross-functional teams to ensure robust platform integration and manageability.
- Support customer and leadership reviews by clearly communicating firmware status, critical issues, risks, and action plans.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to BMC development methods, standards, automation, and best practice improvements.
- Promote code quality, technical reuse, and continuous improvement within the firmware organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in BMC firmware, embedded software, or platform management development.
- Strong expertise in embedded firmware development, Linux-based environments, and hardware/software integration debugging.
- Knowledge of system management protocols such as IPMI, Redfish, or similar frameworks is required.
- Experience working on server, storage, networking, or complex compute platforms is required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical execution, solve complex platform issues, and mentor other engineers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to align stakeholders around technical decisions and priorities.
