This role owns a retail market data product at Cox Automotive end to end - from data acquisition and cleansing through publication and consumer adoption. This data product provides comprehensive retail vehicle listing coverage across the US and Canada, enabling dealers to benchmark market pricing for their inventory and powering analytics and data science capabilities across the enterprise. This is a data ownership role. You will be the authority on this data product - responsible for its quality, coverage, and evolution as the retail vehicle market changes, and for guiding internal consumers on how to interpret and use the data for their needs.
What You'll Do
Data Ownership & Stewardship
  • Own the data product end to end - cleansing, quality standards, coverage, and publication
  • Contribute to data sourcing and acquisition strategy, including evaluating new data sources and expanding coverage into new markets

  • Engage with stakeholders to evaluate new use cases, uncover pain points, and determine where changes to the data product are needed to deliver business value
  • Define and track data quality, coverage, freshness, and adoption metrics
  • Evolve the data product as the retail vehicle selling market changes - understanding what dealers care about when pricing inventory and how that translates to data requirements

Execution & Delivery
  • Ensure product requirements are accounted for in the modernization and growth roadmap for this data product, partnering with engineering and architecture to inform pipeline and infrastructure decisions
  • Lead product execution across 2 engineering delivery teams using Agile methodologies
  • Maintain a well-prioritized backlog with clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria

Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Engage stakeholders at all levels to align priorities and communicate trade-offs
  • Participate in external data vendor partner discussions, including data quality expectations and expansion opportunities
  • Partner with front-end product teams who consume this data product to ensure it evolves to support their roadmaps
  • Collaborate with data science and analytics teams who use this data for enterprise reporting, forecasting, and insights
  • Translate technical data product decisions into business impact for non-technical audiences

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 6+ years of experience in a related field, or a master's degree and 4+ years of experience, or 10+ years of experience in a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in Product Management, Analytics, or related roles, preferably with back-end data products, data platforms, or data pipeline products
  • Proficient in writing SQL and querying data to understand product quality, coverage, and stakeholder use cases
  • Strong understanding of data products, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud data platforms
  • Comfortable participating in technical data flow and architecture discussions
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to present to leadership and translate technical concepts for business audiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of the retail automotive market and dealer pricing dynamics
  • Experience with data stewardship, data governance, or data quality management
  • Experience managing external vendor relationships
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools (Rally preferred)
