About The Role

This position assists the Director, Senior Counsel in providing legal advice to the Company concerning real estate matters.  Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating real estate contracts along with land acquisition and development will be essential.  The ideal candidate is highly motivated and detail oriented.  The Counsel works closely with multiple internal clients and departments.

What You’ll Do

  • Draft, review and negotiate various contracts, land acquisition documents, and transactional documents that meet the Company's risk tolerance and other standards.
  • Identify and resolve project and business risks creatively.
  • Advise business units on legal risk and compliance for their real estate initiatives.
  • Provide sound, cogent legal advice related to land acquisitions and land development.
  • Perform due diligence and prepare any documents related to transactional needs of land acquisition and development process.
  • Other land-related legal matters as needed, such as corporate document drafting/review.
  • Monitor legal developments that affect the Company's business.
  • Review and/or prepare contracts, notices, and disclosures concerning home sales.
  • Assist with monitoring and implementing Company’s legislative and regulatory agenda and issues as needed.
  • Must sometimes complete assignments with very short notice under extreme time constraints.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant Counsel experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Current, valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
