Job Description:
As part of the GBTS Global Resource Support Team, the Legal Technology Learning Specialist will provide content development and delivery across all legal software applications. Trainings will be conducted both virtually and in-person for all legal administrative support teams, including, but not limited to, new hire training, process improvement, and workflow change management. This position is remote and will require some travel for formal training delivery.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop, deliver, and maintain the in-house learning and development programs focused on legal software applications enabling learning opportunities that advance the competencies of all Firm employees.
Create and maintain training materials in appropriate and impactful delivery formats.
Conduct training classes (both 1:1 and remote classroom delivered); develop e-learning courses, videos, workbooks, and study guides.
May serve in different capacities supporting the Project Management Office and liaise with all administrative departments to ensure consistent messaging and highest quality content delivery Firm wide.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with Technology Services Department and Human Resources to onboard and train attorneys, support staff, and administration on any material related to Firm business.
Collaborate with the Service Desk leadership and team to identify learning needs and trends off end user service tickets.
Administers the Learning Management System and creates various learning initiatives as required (security awareness, virtual office setups).
Effective management of the Learning Management System (LMS).
Maintain a consistent training calendar including soliciting content from SMEs across the Firm and offering learning opportunities in a variety of formats.
Categorize, standardize, and maintain the different technical documentation in use at the Firm based on type of work and usage.
Create new learning opportunities by partnering with user-facing departments and translating need / problem into content / solution.
Assist developing and maintaining class materials, e-learning courses, and on-demand online training libraries.
Stay current on latest software versions, emerging industry trends, new technologies, concepts, and techniques. This includes networking internally with other departments and other legal technology professionals to better understand the training requirements for the legal industry.
Ensure supporting materials are available and up to date for course participants.
Deliver training in the most cost-effective yet creative manner, utilizing formats that resonate with the audience’s learning styles and schedule.
Partner with application owners to continuously increase the level of efficiency and productivity of end user software applications by:
Creation of individual and group, position and practice specific learning plans.
Participation in beta testing, User Acceptance Testing and new application onboarding and change management.
Development and delivery of classes and e-learning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communication, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education, technical certification and work experience in teaching/training required.
Five years of experience in training, teaching or technology position/environment required; legal experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills including speech, grammar, and writing.
Extensive knowledge of PC environments with an emphasis on the Microsoft Suite of applications and screen recording/eLearning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate or Techsmith Snag-It and/or Camtasia, Powtoon, Elucidat, Articulate 360, etc.
Experience with uploading interactive SCORM compliant content and LMS administration.
Must be comfortable asking questions, getting detail, and translating concepts to all personalities and learning styles.
Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred KSAs:
Adult learning teaching experience and/or three years of office work, legal highly desired.
Experience in public speaking and training.
Excellent writing, editing, communication, organization, and interpersonal relationship skills.
Desire and ability to learn new software and update or develop related training courses.
Must be able to perform the duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions, and busy attorneys and staff and be able to treat all matters in a discrete and confidential manner.
College degree or equivalent experience; Microsoft Certification a plus
Law firm Applications training experience required including, but not limited to: DocXTools, Adobe Acrobat, Kofax, Best Authority, Workshare, Litera products, iManage Work, BigHand.
Thorough knowledge of Windows-based computer software applications including MS Office, document management systems, presentation and diagramming and charting software programs.
Strong written communications, interpersonal, customer service and teamwork skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, use initiative and judgment to accomplish results.
Excellent skills in spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and proofreading.
Self-starter, proactive; able to demonstrate initiative; detail oriented.
Team player and ability to work under pressure.
May require occasional travel.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, or sit for an extended period.
The Compensation range for this role is 71,953 to 88,456 USD per hour and may be eligible for an annual bonus. Actual compensation within that range will be highly dependent upon the individual's location, skills, experience and qualifications.
