The Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, operationally driven Lifecycle Marketing Manager to serve as the tactical engine of our lifecycle and retention initiatives. Reporting directly to and working closely with the Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for bringing our retention strategies to life.
While the Senior Manager defines the high-level roadmap and creative direction, you will own the execution, ensuring campaigns are built correctly, targeted accurately, and launched on time. You will be analyzing data to build strategic project plans, crafting compelling copy, and managing our instance of Blueshift to ensure we’re reaching the right audience at the right time.
This is a contract-to-hire position with an initial ramp-up period designed to provide immediate operational support and facilitate knowledge transfer. We are looking for immediate support of 20-30 hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs. This flexible contract role will pay $60/CAD per hour.
Beginning April 1st, the role will transition to full-time (40 hours/week) to support a coverage period for maternity leave for approximately 12 months. Any transition to full-time employment, as well as continuation beyond the coverage period, will be evaluated based on business needs, performance, and mutual fit. Conversion to a full-time role is not guaranteed.
What You’ll Do
- Own campaign operations: You will act as the primary operator in Blueshift. You will handle the end-to-end production of email campaigns, including setup, quality assurance (QA), deployment scheduling, and reporting.
- Execute on strategy: Partner with the Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager to operationalize the lifecycle & retention roadmap. You will own the translation of high-level strategies into actionable project plans and live campaigns while contributing your own insights to refine the strategy.
- Segmentation & targeting: Translate campaign goals into precise audience segments. You will manage list maintenance and handle the technical setup of audience segments within Blueshift.
- Performance monitoring and analysis: Monitor campaign results and digest data to provide actionable insights. You will report on what’s working and suggest tactical improvements to optimize engagement and conversion.
- Content & copy execution: Write compelling copy and build campaigns based on the content calendar. You will conceptualize content plans and execute messaging, ensuring alignment with our brand voice.
- Manage external resources: Coordinate with external agency stakeholders, managing their billable time and ensuring deliverables meet our standards and timelines.
- Champion best practices: Ensure all communications adhere to email marketing best practices, including global compliance, privacy laws, and deliverability standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: You have 3 to 4+ years of experience in lifecycle or email marketing, ideally within a subscription business, ed-tech, e-commerce, or direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand.
- Platform proficiency: You are an expert in execution. You have deep experience with ESPs such as Blueshift (preferred), Braze, Klaviyo, or similar platforms, and are comfortable setting up complex campaigns and audiences.
- Operational mindset: You are solution-oriented and organized. You excel at taking a concept and figuring out the technical steps required to make it a reality.
- Data literacy: You are comfortable digesting data and turning it into clear reports and project plans. You use analytics to inform your daily decisions.
- Creative & strategic thinker: You’re able to turn lifecycle challenges into compelling creative solutions—using storytelling, content strategy, and strong copywriting to guide members through their journey.
- Technical proficiency: You are proficient in working with responsive HTML email templates to make updates and alterations. While you are not expected to develop from scratch, you must be comfortable navigating code to troubleshoot rendering issues and ensure design fidelity.
- Collaborative and cross-functional spirit: You thrive working in a supporting and cross-functional role, executing on a shared vision while offering your own creative and tactical ideas to the team.
At Skillshare, we believe creativity thrives in an inclusive environment. We’re excited to meet candidates from all backgrounds and experiences. If you’re passionate about what we do but don’t check every single box, we’d still love to hear from you — curiosity and growth matter most to us.
