SOSi is seeking a Linguist Supervisor to join our team overseeing the Linguists in support of our customer.
Essential Job Duties
- Be the main liaison between SOSi Headquarters Program Management Office (PMO), SOSi personnel, and government officials.
- Serve as SOSi’s authorized representative for technical and administrative performance of all services require by the Field Division, District, Regional, or post of duty office they support.
- Be the single point of contact (POC) for the assigned location through which all government engagement and communications shall be conducted.
- Must be capable of satisfactorily fulfilling all the functions and duties described herein for Analytic Linguists.
- Effectively and efficiently plan and organize the various duties.
- Assign Linguists to monitor real-time oral telecommunications and/or written communication intercepts.
- Assign Linguists to transcribe, translate, and validate completed work.
- Be accountable for daily work assignments and products.
- Ensure that the Contractor’s QC Plan is implemented and fully operational.
- Ensure that each Linguist completes their work assignments(s) prior to the end of their shift.
- Oversee daily activity to ensure that all tasks are being properly executed.
- Maintain records of work production, evidence control, and other administrative records as required by the customer.
- Prepare and present to SOSi, the COR, or his /her designee, a quarterly schedule detailing adequate manpower coverage for each shift for the forthcoming quarter.
- Maintain time and attendance records for all Contract personnel.
- Monitor, recording, translating, transcribing, and synopsizing content of real-time oral and/or written communication.
- Transcribe from storage media, including but not limited to audio cassettes, video cassettes or other digital media and typing in both the required foreign language and English.
- Prepare typed English translations and /or transcriptions from other source media.
- Perform QC review(s) of completed work.
- Validate the accuracy of completed translations and transcriptions.
- Appear in court when subpoenaed to testify.
- Interpreting oral and/or written conversations, concurrently and/or simultaneously.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Spanish from an English-speaking college or university or bachelor’s degree with a major in English from a Spanish-speaking college or university OR a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience that demonstrates oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and administrative management skills.
- Must have experience that demonstrates an ability to effectively manage people and resources to satisfy project objectives and ensure completion of assigned tasks.
- Must have excellent command of the English language and the ability to provide clear, concise, oral, and written communications.
- Must possess the skills necessary to listen and comprehend a foreign language with native or near-native ability, and to follow accurately the basic elements of conversation, whether written or verbal.
- Must possess the skills necessary to read and comprehend foreign languages with a native or near-native ability and to read and understand various text-types.
- Must have the ability to comprehend slang and colloquial expressions in a foreign language and translate them into English.
- Must possess a sufficiently broad vocabulary in English that paraphrasing or explaining is unnecessary.
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure to meet specific deadlines.
- A minimum of 40 wpm typing/word processing skill and have managerial presentation skills.

Work Environment
- Normal office working conditions.
- Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary.
- May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
- May require up to 25% travel in support of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
