Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

At Netflix, our mission is to connect global stories with audiences worldwide. When a Netflix member opens our app, we have a few precious moments to help them choose a story or a game that is right for them at that instance. Presenting them with evidence (e.g., Artwork, Trailers, Synopses) that authentically represents each title and resonates with the member is essential to this effort.

The Promotional Assets & Creative Technology DSE team is at the forefront of Netflix's efforts to effectively promote titles and enhance the content discovery experience. Our team partners closely with Netflix's world-class creative designer teams to amplify and scale promotional media assets for our members. We are looking for a seasoned Machine Learning Scientist to design and develop innovative Machine Learning (ML) solutions. In this rare opportunity, you will have the chance to define the direction for algorithmic strategies and spearhead the execution of ML solutions and ultimately shape how diverse media types are promoted on Netflix and discovered by our members.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end process of ML development and deployment, spanning research, model training, offline and online evaluation, and large-scale productization

  • Partner closely with other ML scientists and engineers to effectively integrate models into business applications and platforms

  • Serve as a cross-functional subject matter expert to surface high-impact opportunities, define roadmaps, and prioritize research investments; drive execution with engineering, product, and creative teams.

  • Communicate complex concepts with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to influence strategic decisions

  • Advance the state of the art and deliver innovations that enhance the content discovery experience of our members.

  • Engage with the ML community, internal and external, to learn, to teach, and to contribute to building a great Netflix brand

About you:

  • Strong ML/DL foundations with hands-on experience training, evaluating, and deploying vision-language models and multimodal LLM systems.

  • Demonstrated research impact in computer vision and multimodal learning, evidenced by publications at top-tier conferences and journals.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with common ML/DL frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow.

  • MS or PhD in ML, Computer Science or related fields.

  • Proven track record of bringing clarity and leading ambitious roadmaps to solve complex problems.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, and passionate about positively contributing to the team and company culture.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, able to take ownership, and thrive with minimal oversight and process.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in building agentic workflows and systems for multimodal search and understanding is a big plus.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $150,000 - $750,000.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.

Job is open for no less than 7 days and will be removed when the position is filled.
