Who You Are 

You are a seasoned Enterprise Architect who has deep hands-on expertise with VMware, Nutanix, Dell PowerFlex, and related virtualization technologies, along with the ability to engage executive stakeholders as a trusted technical advisor. You are experienced in leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineering teams, improving service delivery, and helping drive operational excellence across our managed services practice. 

You bring a customer-first mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service, strong consultative and relationship-building skills as well as the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. You maintain a collaborative approach to solving technical challenges and a commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence. 

About The Role 

The Managed Services Enterprise Architect – Virtualization Technologies serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of enterprise virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure environments. 

Must be based in the United States. Preference will be given to candidates located near Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Boston, MA; or Nashville, TN. Travel may be up to 40%.

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Architect, design, and implement enterprise virtualization solutions utilizing VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Nutanix, Dell PowerFlex, and related technologies. 
  • Develop and execute platform upgrade, migration, and lifecycle management strategies across customer environments. 
  • Provide advanced technical leadership during both pre-sales engagements and post-sales service delivery. 
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to align virtualization strategies with customer business objectives. 
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, operational procedures, technical standards, and deployment guides. 
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the Managed Services organization. 
  • Perform capacity planning, performance optimization, health assessments, and disaster recovery validation. 
  • Support hybrid and multi-cloud environments integrating Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform with on-premises infrastructure. 
  • Lead customer workshops, technical assessments, roadmap planning sessions, and executive-level discussions. 
  • Participate in complex incident resolution, root cause analysis, and technical escalations. 
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, operational standards, automation efforts, and engineering best practices. 

Desired skills and experience:  

  • 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise virtualization platforms. 
  • Extensive hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Nutanix, Dell PowerFlex, VxRail, or comparable enterprise virtualization technologies. 
  • Strong understanding of virtualization lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and operational support. 
  • Experience supporting production enterprise environments within Managed Services, consulting, or large enterprise IT organizations. 
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures integrating Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform. 
  • Experience with performance tuning, capacity management, disaster recovery planning, and infrastructure optimization. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills within ITIL or IT Service Management environments. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences. 
  • Experience developing technical documentation, operational runbooks, and implementation standards. 
  • Ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple customer environments. 
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24x7 managed services environment. 
  • Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment. 
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), or equivalent certifications. 
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring platforms such as LogicMonitor. 
  • Experience automating administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages. 
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools is a plus. 
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

Pursuant to the NYC Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range in New York City for this position is $140,000- $160,000 OTE, (base salary plus opportunities for bonus and/or commission). Compensation in other geographies may vary.
