Reports To: Director of Accounting Operations

Job Summary:

The Accounting Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting and scaling centralized accounting operations across a multi-location organization. This position combines enterprise process ownership with regional operational oversight, ensuring accounting-related operational processes are executed consistently, compliantly, and efficiently across all locations.

The Accounting Operations Manager is aligned to a specific region for operational partnership and support, while also serving as the enterprise owner of one or more centralized accounting processes. Assignments are based on organizational needs and individual strengths.

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Process Ownership

  • Own designated accounting operations processes enterprise-wide (e.g., sales deal finalization, funding, inventory controls, titles, parts & service operations).
  • Define and maintain SOPs, checklists, controls, and service-level expectations.
  • Ensure processes meet company policy, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement, including automation and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Design and deliver enterprise training for assigned processes.

Regional Operations Oversight

  • Serve as the Accounting Operations partner to a designated region.
  • Monitor store-level execution of assigned processes and identify trends, risks, and breakdowns.
  • Partner with General Managers and Regional Operations Directors (RODs) to reinforce standards and address issues.
  • Escalate unresolved or high-risk issues appropriately.
  • Provide functional guidance to store administrative staff (no direct reporting authority).

Performance Monitoring & Improvement

  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to assigned processes (e.g., aging, rework, compliance errors, exceptions).
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Use data and trends to inform leadership of risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Support audit readiness and internal control compliance.
  • Partner with Shared services, Corporate Accounting and Operations to resolve systemic issues.
  • Assist in developing, refining, and maintaining SOPs, checklists, and training materials.
Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in dealership operations or shared services environments (franchise dealership experience preferred).
  • Experience working with Lightspeed, CDK, Reynolds, Sage, NetSuite, or similar systems.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage high transaction volumes accurately.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and consistently enforce process standards across multiple locations or teams.
  • Experience with process improvement, workflow optimization, or transitioning manual processes toward more automated solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail in compliance-driven environments.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time at work station
