Automation Systems Group

The Automation Systems Group is responsible for the design, construction and support of cutting-edge data center automation and control infrastructure. The department collaborates with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Information Technology and Management to ensure the system continues to fulfill Vantage customer requirements. Automation Systems works closely with partner contractors to come up with the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. In addition to design and construction, we are also responsible for the technical requirements of the Operations department involving troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing mission critical control systems throughout all Vantage locations.

Position Overview

This role can be remote in the US.

Vantage is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, hands-on Manager of Automation Billing & Telemetry to lead the development and operational ownership of automation billing and telemetry solutions across North America campuses. This role is responsible for managing a team of Automation Billing & Telemetry Engineers while owning the platforms, standards, and processes that ensure accurate, reliable delivery of customer billing and telemetry data. The Manager, Automation Billing & Telemetry supports both project-based delivery and ongoing operational sustainment, enabling Construction, Operations, Finance, and customers through standardized, auditable telemetry and billing solutions. This role provides hands-on technical leadership across SCADA, BMS, utility metering, data integration, and telemetry validation to ensure data is delivered per customer agreements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Own automation billing and telemetry systems that support accurate, timely delivery of data to downstream billing systems

  • Ensure customer telemetry is delivered in compliance with contractual requirements and agreed‑upon standards

  • Define and enforce telemetry standards, naming conventions, point lists, and data models used for billing and reporting

  • Lead and support data validation and quality assurance processes for billing and telemetry data

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Operations, IT, Billing, and vendor partners to deliver consistent and reliable billing and telemetry solutions

  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership for SCADA, BMS, and telemetry integrations supporting billing and analytics platforms

  • Identify telemetry gaps, inconsistencies, and risks early and drive corrective actions

  • Manage internal and external resources to deliver high‑quality billing and telemetry solutions

  • Provide leadership and management of staff, including performance management, mentoring, and technical skill development within the Automation Billing & Telemetry team

Duties

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Construction, Reliability Engineering, Operations, and Billing teams throughout project lifecycles

  • Review and approve telemetry point lists, metering configurations, and billing data prior to go‑live

  • Support commissioning and turnover activities to validate metering accuracy, telemetry completeness, and alignment with billing requirements

  • Provide ongoing operational support by monitoring trends, anomalies, and recurring billing or telemetry issues

  • Participate in root cause analysis of billing discrepancies as part of continuous improvement efforts

  • Develop and manage task prioritization and scheduling for billing and telemetry workstreams

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of billing and telemetry documentation, standards, and validation processes

  • Support procurement and construction coordination as needed to ensure successful deployment of billing and telemetry solutions

Job Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in automation systems, with strong emphasis on utility billing, metering, and telemetry

  • Strong working knowledge of SCADA, BMS, and automation systems supporting billing and data integrations

  • Experience delivering and supporting billing and telemetry solutions in operational environments

  • Experience leading and mentoring engineers responsible for billing and telemetry systems

  • Preferred experience with downstream billing platforms, analytics, or reporting systems

  • Proven ability to provide hands‑on technical leadership and cross‑functional collaboration

  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS SharePoint

  • Travel required is expected to be approximately 10%, but may vary as business needs evolve
