T1 Energy is bringing solar manufacturing back to the U.S. by building a domestic solar supply chain. Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, we will have produced two solar panels that will power American homes and fuel domestic AI. We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy.

The Role

T1 Energy is looking to hire an EHS Director to lead environmental, health, and safety operations at our G2 solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas. This is a senior role for an EHS professional who understands the specific hazards of cell fab chemistry: saline, phosphine, HD, and the full suite, and has the regulatory knowledge to keep complex manufacturing operations safe, compliant, and ahead of every requirement.

You've built EHS programs in chemical-intensive manufacturing environments, navigated regional and federal regulatory frameworks , and built safety cultures that go beyond compliance. At G2, you'll own it all.

What You'll Do

  • Own all EHS programs and compliance obligations for the G2 solar cell fab, including chemical safety, industrial hygiene, environmental permitting, and emergency response.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive chemical hazard programs for cell fab processes including HF, silane, phosphine, and other hazardous materials under solar cell manufacturing.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements.

  • Lead and develop an EHS team supporting a 24/7 manufacturing environment across multiple shifts.

  • Establish and manage chemical storage, handling, and disposal programs in compliance with all applicable regulations.

  • Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes for EHS events.

  • Manage environmental permits, reporting obligations, and agency relationships at the regional and state level.

  • Partner with Facilities, Process, and Operations teams to integrate EHS requirements into facility design, tool installation, and production workflows.

  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all levels of the organization.

  • Build and sustain a proactive safety culture where every employee is an owner of EHS performance.

Who You Are

  • Deeply knowledgeable in cell fab or semiconductor chemical hazards — you know the risks, the controls, and the consequences.

  • Experienced navigating Texas and federal regulatory frameworks with confidence and credibility.

  • A proactive safety leader who builds programs that prevent incidents rather than just respond to them.

  • Operationally minded and able to partner effectively with engineering and production teams without slowing them down.

  • Composed and decisive in emergency situations — you've been trained for the worst and you're ready if it comes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of EHS experience in a semiconductor, solar cell fab, or chemical-intensive manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in cell fab chemical hazards including HF, silane, phosphine, and related process chemicals.

  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulatory requirements applicable to advanced manufacturing operations.

  • Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory relationships at the state and regional level.

  • Proven track record building EHS management systems and safety programs in high-hazard manufacturing environments.

  • Experience leading EHS teams in a 24/7 production environment.

  • Relevant certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
