The Pricing Manager will develop and execute pricing strategies to increase firm revenue and profitability. The Pricing Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of pricing proposals and financial analysis in support of the Firm’s pricing strategy.

This position collaborates with a team of Pricing, Legal Project Management, Business Development, Innovation, Finance, Knowledge Management, and Billing Professionals and reports to the Director of Pricing and LPM.

This position is full-time remote and can be in any city where we have a US office. Flexibility in coming to the office for training or meetings is required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Take a leading role in the development of Pricing proposals, including financial modeling, profitability analysis, and recommendations for structuring firm fee proposals.
  • Work with Sr. Pricing Managers and Firm partners to develop budgets and alternative fee arrangements with a focus on key assumptions and constraints, success factors, key deliverables, identification of services within scopes of work, key milestones and dates, key resources, major project risks, and payment terms.
  • Develop and maintain process for capturing and leveraging historical metrics to analyze profitability of prior legal projects to develop more informed budgets and pricing models.
  • Coach partners and others on strategic pricing options and profitability levers.
  • Liaise with Sr. Pricing Managers and Firm Management to secure approvals for all discounted hourly rate proposals and alternative fee arrangements.
  • Support bid teams by providing pricing guidance on national and global bids. Serve as an expert in RFP process as it relates to client pricing decisions.
  • Develop and maintain processes to collect and update forms, templates, checklists, and practice tips to support the efficient delivery of legal services.
  • Identify desirable enhancements to budget tools and process and maintain an awareness of pricing tools available in the marketplace.
  • Stay informed of current pricing trends within the legal market and apply industry knowledge to improve the firm’s pricing proposals.

Qualification and experience/skills:
  • JD or MBA is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a business-related field such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Marketing
  • Minimum of three years in legal services pricing required
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of rate structures, discount arrangements, billing terms, and alternative fee arrangements required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required
  • Experience with law firm technology such as Clocktimizer, Foundation, Aderant Expert, BigHand/Iridium or other matter planning software or tools preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI & Microsoft SQL a plus
  • Experience or willingness to present pricing-related topics before Firm leadership and Firm partners
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when necessary
