NOV’s Energy Products and Services team is driving innovation across well construction and renewable energy markets. As part of a cross-functional and multi-discipline team, the Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (ME) will lead our efforts to develop and improve the manufacturing processes in the Cedar Park, Texas facility. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing procedures, tooling, and equipment that support these processes with a heavy focus on machining, tooling, fabrication, and welding. Onsite presence is required.

Primary Responsibilities & Major Tasks:  

  • Provide technical assistance to strategic suppliers and production departments to reduce lead-times and costs.
  • Assist with commodity strategies that support the desired profitability, level of quality, and cycle time of various product lines that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve materials flow throughout the entire supply chain.
  • Streamline processes and material flow to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to cost reduction efforts internally and externally by actively seeking and implementing opportunities for reduced costs.
  • Generate routers, build process drawings for manufacturing & tooling, and design raw material or process drawings for the design-engineering group.
  • Assist with determining supplier capabilities and sourcing of new products.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing shop as needed.
  • Stay abreast of changes in technology that will improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Create leaner, more efficient, and more profitable business practices.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent degree)
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in engineering role, i.e. Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering Technician or similar role, required.

Technical Competencies

  • Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn different software programs as required.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
  • Must demonstrate evidence of acceptable competence in analytical and systematic problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years working directly with machining, fabrication/welding, and tooling design.
  • 2 years implementing Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience in design and application of precision production tooling.
  • Structured project management or previous experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Siemens Teamcenter, JD Edwards ERP, and 3D CAD Modeling in SolidWorks or Creo experience.

This position will require 10% domestic travel to other NOV offices and customer locations.
Observe safety regulations at NOV facilities and customer locations. Attend safety training and wear required safety equipment, PPE, as appropriate.
