About The Opportunity
Menasha Corporation is seeking a hands on Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team for Summer 2026. This role provides immersive exposure to real manufacturing environments across multiple regional facilities. You will work directly on production equipment, assist with machinery improvements, support custom automation initiatives, and contribute to layout updates and process optimization.This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering who enjoy practical, shop floor problem solving. You will receive mentorship from experienced engineers and participate in Menasha’s Intern Program, focused on skill building, professional development, and industry networking
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Engineering & Shop-Floor Work
Assist with machine troubleshooting, repairs, and ergonomic or safety improvements
Support machine guarding upgrades, equipment modifications, and fixture development
Participate in equipment startups, working directly with vendors, maintenance teams, and operators
Perform time studies, collect production data, and evaluate opportunities for labor reduction and efficiency gains
Observe and document mechanical and electrical system performance to support corrective actions
Technical Design & CAD Work
Create and maintain 2D/3D CAD drawings for layouts, components, and equipment updates
Assist with manufacturing layouts, material flow improvements, and tooling concepts
Support engineering change documentation and project recordkeeping
Continuous Improvement & Automation Support
Participate in cost‑saving initiatives such as line balancing, equipment optimization, and workflow redesign
Support the development of custom automation solutions to reduce manual labor and improve consistency
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to implement improvements across local facilities
Project Leadership & Collaboration
Manage multiple tasks and small projects simultaneously while communicating progress to stakeholders
Participate in project planning activities, risk assessments, and installation coordination
Follow all Menasha safety procedures and actively contribute to a safe work environment
Qualifications
MUST be actively pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
Hands‑on aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment
Experience with AutoCAD preferred; exposure to SolidWorks or similar CAD tools is a plus
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast‑paced manufacturing plants
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and solid communication abilities
Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and machine schematics
Willingness to travel to nearby facilities as required
Comfortable working in shop, production, and equipment areas
The expected salary range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00 per hour and may vary depending on candidate’s level of education and applicable work experience.
