Manufacturing Software Python Test Developer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Software Test Development Engineer to design, develop, and support manufacturing test automation solutions for networking products and platforms.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, hands-on software engineer and self-starter with strong experience in test automation, object-oriented Python and Perl, Linux environments, and manufacturing test processes.

In this role, you will develop scalable and reliable test frameworks and automation scripts, define test requirements and coverage, support production test infrastructure, troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues, perform code reviews, and develop tools for data collection and analysis. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable new products and continuously improve manufacturing test capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, deliver, and maintain manufacturing test automation frameworks, tools, and scripts supporting production and test infrastructure.
• Develop robust automation solutions using object-oriented Python and Perl.
• Architect test automation solutions with a focus on simplicity, reliability, maintainability, scalability, extensibility, and reuse.
• Define test requirements, develop comprehensive test coverage, and identify opportunities to improve test effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain production test scripts and related software tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, test, system, and manufacturing production issues.
• Conduct code reviews and promote software development and test automation best practices.
• Develop and support tools for test data collection, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
• Provide automation and manufacturing test support for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, hardware, software, product engineering, and other cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready test solutions.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for test frameworks, automation solutions, tools, and production processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test quality, reliability, efficiency, and manufacturing scalability.

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 4 to 6+ years of professional experience developing manufacturing test automation, large-scale test frameworks, or related software/test infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on programming and object-oriented development experience with Python and/or Perl.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing test methodologies, production test processes, and test automation.
• Strong experience working in Linux-based environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience designing and maintaining reliable, reusable, and scalable automation frameworks.
• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for deliverables and schedules.
• A continuous learner who actively shares technical knowledge and best practices with the broader team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:

• C/C++ or Java development
• SQL and relational databases
• Networking technologies, protocols, and networking hardware
• Automated testing of networking products or embedded systems
• Manufacturing test equipment and production test infrastructure
• Data collection, analytics, dashboards, and manufacturing monitoring/alerting solutions
• Source control, CI/CD, and modern software development practices
• Experience supporting NPI and high-volume manufacturing environments
