Join our Marketing Team as a Marketing and Communications Specialist located in our Miami office.

This role will be in office four days a week in our Miami Office. This role reports to the Director of Media Relations and Communications.

Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Specialist works as part of the Communications team to provide research and writing support for public relations and marketing content initiatives, including media outreach and interviews,  awards nominations, and press releases. The position will help to drive media and communications efforts for the firm’s offices in Florida, as part of the overall global marketing and business development team. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works hand in hand with the Marketing and Communications Manager, Director of Communications, Marketing and Communications team, and the office and practice leaders to create a proactive communications program that supports the strategic objectives of the firm, offices, and practices

  • Supports the media relations strategy of the firm, focused on the Florida office offices and targeted practice areas

  • Engages with reporters and identifies opportunities to place attorneys/stories in client-facing media, including local, national, legal, business, and trade publications

  • Creates and maintains media lists, vets media opportunities,  writes media pitches and schedules interviews

  • Provides media relations support, including monitoring interviews, prepping attorneys with talking points, media coaching and helping to promote / leverage content.

  • Assists with media outreach and press releases for lateral hires throughout Florida and globally for various practices  

  • Develops story/content priorities and outreach strategies designed to build thought leadership including media placements, bylined articles, speaking engagements, multimedia presentations, and other targeted efforts

  • Writes press releases, internal communications, and other collateral as needed

  • Plans, researches, writes, and executes awards submissions and nominations

  • Interviews attorneys and ghost writes content for various external publications and platforms

  • Provides strategic and creative support for internal and external communications programs, writes/designs collateral as needed for the firm’s Internet, presentations, white papers, advertising, video scripts, etc.

  • Coordinates with attorneys and marketing/business staff to develop office and practice-specific marketing and communications plans

  • Provides social media support, including drafting targeted posts, assisting with attorney training and helping attorneys to promote / leverage content.

  • Collaborates with marketing and other business professionals throughout the firm

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies

  • A self-starter and team player, able to accept direction, yet work independently

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into a compelling narrative for media, or firm use

  • Excellent prioritization, problem solving and time management skills

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral; strong writer who excels at turning complex information into easily understandable copy

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment that works well under pressure

  • Strong client-first work ethic

  • Tech-Savvy problem solver who will have the ability to learn new programs or systems with ease, including using AI

  • Highly organized

  • A positive attitude, strong attention to detail and possesses excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of professional experience managing PR for a law firm or professional services industry or as a business/legal journalist

  • Track record of successful media placements designed to build thought leadership

  • Writing portfolio that demonstrates experience translating complex topics into compelling copy

  • Strong understanding of the news media and existing media relationships

  • Well-versed in identifying PR risk issues and providing office/practice leaders with guidance and coaching to help make decisions

  • Knowledge of AP Style, as well as rules of English grammar and style

  • Adapt at utilizing Cision or other PR Databases

  • Experience in leveraging social media channels to achieve maximum exposure

Technology

  • High level of proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook required

  • Knowledge and experience across all social media platforms, specifically Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube

  • Proficiency with using AI for writing and research tasks
