To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a/an Mechanical Design Engineer located in Austin TX.
Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager the Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, validating, and implementing innovative and cost-effective product solutions of complex scope in order to support the organization in prototype development through full-scale production.
Shift Hours: 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (Wed- Sat)
What a typical day looks like:
- Apply complex design practices and procedures to assigned program areas to create custom tooling, jigs and fixtures with standard processes such as CNC milling/turning and Additive Manufacturing
- Leads end-to-end strain testing activities, including test setup specification, execution oversight of engineers/technicians, and comprehensive data review, analysis, and interpretation to ensure accurate characterization of material behavior and performance trends
- Create and release detailed drawings and interface with machine shop for quote and completion
- Manage sourcing and deliveries from suppliers for fabrication of tools/fixtures and equipment
- Work with other members of the development team to support manufacturing tooling design initiatives
- Drive creation of production and technology roadmaps that support customer expectations
- Develop and support design improvements that enhance manufacturability and assembly while minimizing costs
- Provide complex technical support to manufacturing floor to enhance manufacturability and assembly while minimizing costs
- Perform Tolerance Analysis and make recommendations
- Project Management on key customer accounts.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team
- Applies advanced analytical techniques (e.g., FEA correlation) to predict material behavior under complex loading conditions
- Experienced in developing and validating test methods to characterize material performance, including tensile, compression, and cyclic loading scenarios
- Translates material data into design guidance, enabling optimized component performance, reliability, and manufacturability in engineering applications
- Must have at least 4 years of experience designing tooling and creating drawings in Solid works
- Must have at least 6 years of experience in stress–strain analysis and material characterization
- 3D CAD Experience (Solid works preferred)
- Drawing creation and release experience
- Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
- Demonstrated leadership skills and team orientation
Here are a few of our preferred experiences,
- 3D CAD Experience in one or more of the following: Solid works, Fusion 360, NX, Creo.
- 3D Printing Experience
- Manual or CNC Milling/Lathe Experience
- Introductory Understanding of GD&T / Dimensional Management
