Job SummaryWe are seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter (Engineer II) to support our Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will have experience creating detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for propulsion-related hardware such as motor cases, nozzles, insulation, joints, and structural interfaces. This role supports design integration, configuration control, and the release of accurate, manufacturable mechanical designs. Strong 3D CAD and drafting skills are required, along with the ability to collaborate closely with engineers across disciplines. This position may be remote or based in Huntsville, AL, Niceville FL, or Hampton, AR.

- Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
- Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience
- Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
- Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Problem-solving skills. - Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
- May be requested to work a different shift.
