ABOUT FLOVISION SOLUTIONS

FloVision Solutions is a remote-first startup focused on improving the food supply chain, starting with protein processing. We design computer vision and machine learning-assisted production processes to reduce food waste, improve QA, and enhance staff skills, using proprietary hardware and software to solve customer problems.

FloVision Solutions is a U.S.-based Series A startup with a remotely distributed team across the USA, UK, and Ireland.

  POSITION OVERVIEW

As the first Mechatronics Engineer at FloVision Solutions, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and deploying novel robotic systems in food production environments. You will support our team in bringing real-time, robotic applications to market that harness feedback from FloVision’s current computer vision applications (FloVision Pro and Nano). We are looking for a hands-on systems engineer with a strong mechatronic background who wants to help us achieve our mission of reducing 1% of CO2 emissions through a reduction in food waste. As one of FloVision’s early employees and the first robotics hire, you will have an influential role in the robotics product development and culture at FloVision.

LOCATION & TRAVEL

This role is a full-time remote position. Occasional travel may be required for the following:

  • Travel to customer sites (0-5% travel, depending on project and individual preferences).
  • Attend team meetups and work sessions two to four times per year.
  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, and continuously improve system architecture
  • Develop end-to-end prototyping and development of electro-mechanical subsystems
  • Selecting and integrating mechanical parts and sensors (actuators, motor, grippers, air jet, chute diverter)
  • Spec’ing and implementing motor control (servo/stepper + PID)
  • Designing real-time control logic synced to high-speed conveyor flow
  • Hardware-software integration: edge compute (Jetson, Pi), MCUs (Arduino)
  • Collaborating closely with vision + ML team and product leads
  • Building quick iterations and on-site testing in plant conditions
  • Ensuring robustness, food-safety awareness, and maintainability
  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years experience building real-world robotics or automation systems
  • Strong mechatronics background: motors, sensors, control systems
  • Experience integrating hardware with microcontrollers and SBCs
  • Proficiency with Python and/or C++ for embedded control & integration
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and communicate clearly across teams
  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Exposure to real-time systems or conveyor-driven processes
  • Comfortable with scrappy prototyping (PVC, linear rails, gearboxes, etc.)
  • Bonus: Experience in foodtech, agtech, or industrial automation
  • Bonus: Previous work with soft grippers, pneumatics, or vision-guided robotics
  INTERVIEW PROCESS OVERVIEW

Throughout the process, you'll have multiple opportunities to showcase your skills and experience, and we will aim to keep communication transparent and timely as we move through each step.

  • Stage 1: Initial Audio Interview (via Qualifi) This is an audio-based, on-demand interview where you respond to pre-recorded questions at your convenience.
