About the Team
The Developer GTM organization is a startup within Cloudflare, driving how we attract, inspire, and grow the next generation of builders. We are redefining what developer acquisition looks like in a world where AI and distributed agents are reshaping the stack. Our mission is to create new pathways for developers to discover Cloudflare, whether through ecosystem partnerships, high impact content, or creative field engagement.
We are builders, storytellers, and connectors united by one goal: to make Cloudflare the most exciting place for developers to build.
What you'll do
As a Models Engineer at Cloudflare, you will be the technical heartbeat of our AI community, bridging the gap between cutting-edge models and the developers building on our platform. You'll work directly with model creators and research teams to bring new models to Cloudflare, while simultaneously educating and inspiring our global developer base. We're looking for someone who can navigate a technical partnership call in the morning and debug a developer's issue on Discord in the afternoon.
Responsibilities
  • Model Partnerships & Integration: Identify and evaluate promising new models. Work directly with external model teams - research labs, open-source maintainers, and partner organizations - to bring their work to Cloudflare. Serve as the technical point of contact through integration and launch.
  • Technical Content & Education: Author tutorials, technical blog posts, and documentation that help developers understand and adopt our AI offerings. Make complex concepts accessible.
  • Community Engagement & Support: Actively participate in developer communities like Discord. Provide technical support, gather feedback, and build relationships with developers and contributors.
  • Engineering & Prototyping: Build demos, sample applications, and reference implementations that showcase what's possible with Cloudflare's AI infrastructure.
  • Internal Product Advocacy: Synthesize feedback from developers and model partners into actionable insights for Product and Engineering teams. Influence roadmap, API design, and feature prioritization.
  • Event Representation: Present at conferences, meetups, and online events through technical talks, workshops, and live demonstrations.
Requirements Must-Have
  • Technical Depth: Strong experience with Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers and Diffusers, Cog). Solid understanding of how models work and how to work with them.
  • Content Creation: Portfolio of technical writing - blog posts, documentation, tutorials - that demonstrates clear explanation of complex topics.
  • Public Speaking: Experience presenting technical content at conferences, meetups, or through video content.
  • Community Presence: Active participation in developer communities. You're visible, helpful, and engaged.
  • Partnership Experience: Track record of working with external teams - whether open-source maintainers, research groups, or partner engineering teams.
  • Prototyping Ability: Can build end-to-end applications that integrate models and serve as examples for developers.
Nice-to-Have
  • Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers or serverless/edge architectures.
  • Full-stack experience (JavaScript/TypeScript) for building complete applications.
  • Experience with model fine-tuning or vector databases.
  • Background in ML research or contributions to model development.
  • Experience with image, video, or audio models.
Common Daily Activities
  • Call with a model team to discuss integration requirements for an upcoming release.
  • Troubleshooting a developer's issue in Discord or triaging GitHub issues.
  • Writing a blog post on performance characteristics of a newly launched model.
  • Collaborating with Engineering on how an API change will affect the developer experience.
  • Building a demo application for an upcoming launch.
  • Reviewing community feedback and distilling it into product recommendations.

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
  • For Bay Area based hires: Estimated annual salary of $194,000.00-$266,000.00

Equity
This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
