PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $21.78-$26.63 hourly. The full Pay Range is $21.65-$31.44 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Mortgage Sales Assistant I, you’ll be a vital force behind BECU’s mortgage success—helping members turn big life moments into reality. In this role, your attention to detail, organization, and member-first mindset ensure mortgage applications move smoothly, accurately, and on time. By partnering closely with Mortgage Loan Originators and internal teams, you help create an exceptional lending experience, support responsible growth, and strengthen trust with every interaction. Your work doesn’t just support the process—it powers it.

To join our dynamic team in this role, we require candidates to be residents of WA state. If you’re located within a reasonable driving distance to our Tukwila Headquarters (TFC), we encourage you come into the office on Tuesdays & Wednesdays each week.  For those candidates that live outside the commutable distance to TFC, this role will be primarily remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Ensure Loan Accuracy & Quality: Review mortgage applications and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and quality, updating files directly or collaborating with Mortgage Loan Originators, members, and partners to gather missing information.

  • Support Loan Progression: Review Notices of Incomplete Application (NOIA) and approval conditions, helping secure required documentation to keep loans moving efficiently through the pipeline.

  • Coordinate Marketing & Outreach Efforts: Order, assemble, and prepare sales and marketing materials, including support for First-Time Homebuyer (FTHB) seminars, community events, and outreach initiatives when needed.

  • Maintain Data Integrity: Rekey loans as necessary and monitor daily reports for new mortgage applications to ensure pricing accuracy and compliance standards are met.

  • Manage Loan Documentation Requests: Order required third-party items for loan submissions, including (but not limited to) VOE, VOR, VOD, SSAE18, tax transcripts, FHA case numbers, and Certificates of Eligibility.

  • Monitor Compliance & Service Standards: Track pipeline exception reporting to ensure service level agreements and regulatory requirements are consistently upheld.

  • Coach & Support Process Excellence: Provide guidance and coaching on procedural and process-related items to help teams operate efficiently and confidently.

  • Oversee Centralized Communication Channels: Manage Mortgage Division inboxes by reviewing, responding to, evaluating, and uploading documentation into the appropriate loan files.

  • Collaborate to Solve Challenges: Partner with mortgage production team members to analyze and resolve administrative or operational challenges within the loan origination process.

  • Distribute Leads & Applications: Assign online leads and mortgage applications to Mortgage Loan Originators for timely review and follow-up.

  • Handle Time-Sensitive Disclosures: Mail initial loan disclosures and decline letters within required regulatory timeframes.

  • Coordinate with External Partners: Engage with title, escrow, appraisal, flood, employment verification, insurance, and condo project vendors to ensure all loan requirements are met.

  • Maintain Lead Management Standards: Review mortgage lead management systems to ensure departmental service and quality standards are consistently achieved.

  • Pitch In Where Needed: Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to team success and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or associated Certification (GED).

  • Minimum two years of advanced level clerical work experience.

  • Comply with SAFE Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).

Desired Qualifications:

  • One year of experience working in a Mortgage Lending environment.

  • Experience working with Encompass loan origination system.

  • Proficient math skills, with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Proficient organizational skills.

  • Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate.
