THIS IS AN EVERGREEN REQUISITION

Orbis is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineering Analyst with a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph to evaluate complex computer networks. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Network Engineer designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting network infrastructure. This role is critical to evaluating computer networks for stability, integrity, efficiency, and vulnerabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the design and function of networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN, SANs, etc.)
  • Dig through dense network traffic data to discern patterns and topology
  • Use Wireshark and other PCAP tools to evaluate the network
  • Read and digest to non-technical stakeholders the disposition of network configuration files, NMS tools, and network activity.
  • Document in network diagrams, slide decks, and wikis network architecture and processes for internal use
  • Lean new networking protocols quickly and integrate that knowledge into ongoing analysis.
  • Brief findings to key client stakeholders

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, VPNs, MPLS, GPON, IPsec, and SDH.
  • Experience with network hardware such as Cisco, Juniper, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG)

Desired Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security best practices
  • Scripting and automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with VoIP systems and QoS configuration
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly preferred
  • Experience with international business best practices related to computer network implementation

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
  • Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region
