East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas

East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking Operating Room Nurse Managers to lead surgical services with professionalism, accountability, and a strong command of perioperative operations. This role is for experienced surgical leaders who can support safe procedures, efficient OR flow, staff development, physician collaboration, and regulatory readiness.

About the Role

The OR Nurse Manager provides daily leadership for operating room nurses, surgical technologists, support staff, and assigned perioperative workflows. This position requires operational discipline, clinical credibility, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate complex surgical schedules while maintaining excellent patient safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operating room operations, staffing assignments, case flow, room utilization, and surgical readiness.
  • Supervise OR nurses, surgical technologists, and assigned surgical services personnel.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, sterile processing, PACU, supply chain, pharmacy, infection prevention, and administration.
  • Ensure compliance with AORN standards, facility policies, surgical safety checklists, sterile technique, documentation, and regulatory expectations.
  • Monitor surgical quality indicators, delays, incident reports, patient safety events, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, competency validation, staff education, scheduling, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Maintain supply, equipment, implant, instrument, and room readiness in partnership with supply chain and sterile processing.
  • Prepare the department for audits, surveys, inspections, emergency cases, and operational growth.
Scheduling and Availability

This is a full-time leadership role. Schedule may vary according to surgical services operations, leadership coverage, and urgent department needs.

RequirementsQualifications
  • Active RN license in the State of Texas or compact RN license in good standing.
  • Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience required.
  • Prior OR charge nurse, supervisor, manager, or surgical services leadership experience preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS required.
  • CNOR preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative workflow, sterile technique, surgical documentation, staff leadership, and physician relations.
