Ambrosia Energy is on a mission to make solar + battery systems the fastest-to-deploy and most cost-effective energy source in the US and beyond. As global energy demand surges—driven by the rapid rise of data centers, electric vehicles, and future in-home robotics—the world stands at a critical energy inflection point. To meet this challenge, we need innovative, scalable power sources. Our engineering-led team, with expertise in designing and deploying satellite constellations (Swarm, Starlink Mobile), is now focused on energy on Earth. We're developing affordable, clean energy solutions with new battery storage systems. United by strong team camaraderie, we prioritize speed, rapid iteration, vertical integration, and a test-like-you-fly approach. We're committed to making an impact on the future of energy.

We're looking for an experienced PCB CAD Designer to support our electrical engineers with schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer. You'll also own our schematic symbol and footprint libraries, managed in Altium 365. This role suits someone who is detail-oriented and knows IPC standards and design for manufacturability (DFM) well.

Responsibilities
  • Assist engineers with schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer.

  • Place and route multilayer boards, including controlled-impedance, high-current and high-voltage designs.

  • Run design rule checks (DRC) and electrical rule checks (ERC), and take part in design reviews.

  • Prepare fabrication and assembly packages: Gerber/ODB++ files, drill files, BOMs, pick-and-place files and assembly drawings.

  • Create and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints and 3D models to IPC-7351 as managed components in Altium 365.

  • Keep library standards consistent, including naming conventions, component parameters and part lifecycle status.

  • Verify component data against manufacturer datasheets.

  • Review designs for manufacturability and assembly, and work with fabricators and contract manufacturers to resolve issues.

  • Maintain design guidelines, checklists and release procedures.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience with Altium Designer.

  • Hands-on experience with Altium 365 and managed component libraries.

  • Experience creating and maintaining schematic and footprint libraries.

  • Working knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-7351, IPC-2221 and IPC-A-610.

  • Solid understanding of DFM and DFA.

  • Ability to read component datasheets and mechanical package drawings.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred Skills or Experience
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with power electronics or high-voltage PCB design.

  • IPC CID or CID+ certification.

  • Familiarity with PLM or BOM management tools.

  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python) for design automation.
