Role Purpose
As a Principal – Cloud Architecture at Accelya, you will define and lead the cloud solutions architecture strategy for our airline software platform, driving technical excellence, AI-powered engineering transformation, and operational resilience. You will partner with Engineering, Product, Security, and Platform teams to design scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions while mentoring engineering teams and influencing the organization's long-term technology direction.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Define and own the cloud solutions architecture strategy, ensuring scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-efficient platform solutions.

  • Lead AI-powered cloud engineering transformation by driving adoption of tools such as GitHub Copilot, AWS CodeWhisperer, Cursor AI, Claude, and other AI-assisted development technologies to improve engineering productivity and infrastructure quality.

  • Design and govern cloud-native architectures using AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation).

  • Establish architecture standards, governance frameworks, best practices, and technical guardrails across the cloud platform.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Platform Operations, and Architecture teams to define and execute the technical roadmap.

  • Lead complex cloud solutions initiatives, modernization programs, migrations, and platform transformation projects.

  • Architect solutions with a security-first mindset, incorporating defense-in-depth principles, compliance requirements, and operational resilience.

  • Drive continuous improvement of cloud platform reliability, observability, automation, scalability, and operational excellence.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and architects while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

  • Support critical production environments, participate in architectural reviews, and provide technical leadership during major incidents and post-incident improvements.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimization across cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform services.

  • Report on architecture strategy, platform health, modernization initiatives, and engineering transformation progress to senior leadership.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in Cloud Solutions Architecture with significant experience leading large-scale cloud initiatives.

  • Expert knowledge of AWS services including EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route53, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch, and networking concepts.

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, and/or CloudFormation.

  • Proven experience designing highly available, secure, scalable cloud-native architectures.

  • Strong understanding of cloud security, identity management, networking, encryption, disaster recovery, and defense-in-depth principles.

  • Experience leading cloud modernization, migration, automation, and platform engineering initiatives.

  • Experience supporting production environments, incident response, operational excellence, and continuous service improvement.

  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience driving AI-enabled engineering transformation using GitHub Copilot, AWS CodeWhisperer, Cursor AI, Claude, or similar AI development platforms.

  • Experience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), platform engineering capabilities, and developer self-service solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, DevSecOps, and cloud automation.

  • Experience with observability platforms, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.

  • Familiarity with airline technology platforms or enterprise SaaS environments.

  • Experience presenting architecture strategy and technical roadmaps to executive leadership.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and/or relevant AWS certifications are highly desirable.
