What you’ll be doing...

Data science is the engine that drives informed decision-making and unlocks the hidden potential within our enterprise data. As a Principal Data Science Engineer, you will join the Verizon Digital Service Performance and Analytics team. In this role, you won't just process data; you will transform raw information into the strategic intelligence that shapes customer behaviors and market trends for the Verizon Consumer Group.

You will use data and innovation as fuel to propel Verizon beyond the competition. You will architect products and assets that support the Digital Sales Organization, Digital Sales Planning & Operations, and Digital Service team by developing and performing complex analyses using big data technologies.  

  • Develop high-scale systems, applications, and advanced visual dashboards using Big Data technologies.

  • Design and refine predictive models to solve complex business questions and improve operational predictability.

  • Extract actionable insights from massive datasets to drive revenue and customer retention

  • Lead process improvement initiatives and ensure rigorous data quality standards.

  • Apply sophisticated UI/UX design principles to data visualization.

  • Stay at the forefront of modeling techniques and emerging industry trends to keep Verizon’s analytics ecosystem "ahead of the game.

What we’re looking for...

With an eye towards improving performance and predictability, you like the science of analytics. Developing resolutions to complex problems, using your sharp judgment to develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria, allows you to deliver solutions that make a huge impact. You’re able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, and you take pride in your ability to share your considerable knowledge with your peers.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in data management, analysis and visualization.

  • Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (Big Query / Vertex AI / Looker / LookML / Looker Studio Pro)

  • Experience in Looker & Qlik or similar visual analysis tool. Hands-on experience working with enterprise-scale datasets, with a focus on optimizing query performance and dashboard responsiveness.

  • Experience with data modeling using LookML in the Looker platform.

  • Experience as a data scientist, analyst, or statistical modeler.

  • Experience with the programming language SQL.

  • Experience in designing, developing and implementing ETL processes.

  • Experience leveraging AI tools like Claude, Antigravity, and CO-Pilot

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Economics/Econometrics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Operations Research.

  • A passion for educating and communicating analytic findings and insights with integrity to all levels: from going over raw output with colleagues to creating presentations and storyboards that captivate and succinctly convey complex ideas to our strategic business partners.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Channel metrics and data domain principles.

  • Experience in visual science/dashboard design principles.

  • Experience in applying statistical ideas and methods to data sets to answer business problems.

  • Experience with programming languages, like Python, JS, or R.

  • Experience with Machine Learning algorithms and tools.

Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $120,500.00 - $231,000.00.
