Principal Product Engineer- HelloDataGrace Hill is looking for an experienced Principal Product Engineer to focus on our HelloData product, an automated multifamily market analysis platform that leverages daily data updates from hundreds of thousands of property websites and listing sites to drive apartment pricing and investment decisions. If you’re passionate about changing the game in multifamily real estate and thrive in a high-growth, high-reward environment, we invite you to be a part of our journey!
Position Overview
We are looking for a Principal Product Engineer who is, effectively, a full-stack architect on steroids. Our ideal candidate would be a builder at heart who has taken products from 0 to 1, handling everything from database design and serverless architecture to the frontend UI, who is ready to apply that expertise to a platform operating at massive scale.
This role is for a pragmatic leader who sits at the intersection of engineering and product. You will serve as the technical anchor for a small team of talented full-stack engineers, driving high coding standards and architectural decisions while translating complex product requirements into shipping code.
You will take ownership of a sophisticated codebase, bridging the gap between business strategy and technical execution. If you thrive on end-to-end ownership, building the backend, configuring the cloud infrastructure, and polishing the user experience, this is your opportunity to define the future of a major revenue-generating platform.
Responsibilities
  • Bridge Product & Engineering: Work directly with the product team to translate high-level business goals into concrete technical architectures and executable roadmaps.
  • End-to-End Execution: Own features entirely. You will write code that spans the full stack, from database schemas and serverless functions to client-side logic and UI components.
  • Technical Stewardship: Inherit and evolve a high-velocity codebase. You will drive the standards for code quality, testing, and deployment, ensuring the platform scales reliably as our user base continues to grow.
  • Mentorship: Act as a force multiplier for the engineering team. You will lead by example, conducting code reviews and mentoring engineers to help them solve hard problems effectively.
Qualifications
Core Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5-10+ yrs relevant experience.
  • Experience building SaaS products for early stage/start-up orgs

The Stack
  • Node.js & TypeScript: You have expert-level understanding of Node.js and TypeScript. You don’t just write functions; you architect scalable, type-safe backends that are easy to maintain and test.
  • Vue.js (Options API): You have deep experience building complex, responsive frontends using Vue 3. You are specifically comfortable working with the Options API, managing state, and building performant UIs that delight users without over-engineering.
  • Database Design (PostgreSQL): You are proficient in PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, and query optimization. You understand data integrity and can manage complex migrations in a production environment.
Cloud & Integrations
  • GCP & Serverless: You have extensive experience deploying and managing infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. You are comfortable with serverless architectures (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run) and know how to debug production issues in a distributed system.
  • System Integration & Automation: You are an expert at gluing systems together. You have deep experience working with third-party APIs (HubSpot, Stripe, Auth0) to automate internal operations, sync data, and streamline business workflows.
Product & Leadership
  • 0-to-1 Builder: You have a proven track record of building and launching full-stack products from scratch. You understand the entire lifecycle, from git init to production deployment.
  • Product Fluency: You can translate vague business requirements into concrete technical specs. You sit comfortably between engineering and product, ensuring that what we build solves the right business problems.
  • High Standards: You have a strong opinion on what good looks like in a codebase and the leadership skills to bring a team up to that level through code reviews and mentorship.
Bonus Points
  • Experience in PropTech or Real Estate data.
  • Experience building internal tools or Revenue Ops automation that support sales/CS teams.
  • Experience with Stripe, Hubspot, Auth0
Location: Remote (US based)
Salary range:  $175,000- $250,000 + Bonus
