The Central AI team's vision is to accelerate AI innovation across Atlassian by building the core infrastructure, key capabilities and experiences. The Central AI team is building some core AI products, especially in the conversational AI space that leverage Atlassian's key strength - the understanding of our customers' work and organizational knowledge. We are in very early stages of building these experiences. We expect a lot of exploration, experimentation, validation of hypotheses through customer research to figure out the right solutions.
As a Principal Product Manager for AI Quality in Central AI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Atlassian's vision for delivering quality AI products including Rovo. Your focus will be on delivering superior quality experiences that underpin Atlassian's AI-driven products and solutions. Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Vision and Execution:
  • Define and drive the strategic vision and roadmap for AI quality for your feature areas, clearly articulating the desired outcomes and the path to achieve them.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the quality, reliability, and trustworthiness of AI models and experiences, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and user expectations.

Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with engineering, data science, product, and design teams to identify opportunities and implement improvements in AI quality.
  • Advocate for relevance and quality standards, influencing stakeholders and championing initiatives that elevate user experience.

Customer-Centric Approach:
  • Develop deep customer insights to pinpoint gaps in quality, proactively addressing issues to enhance user satisfaction and engagement.
  • Regularly interact with users and internal stakeholders to validate quality enhancements and prioritize feature improvements.

Communication and Storytelling:
  • Create compelling narratives and communicate progress effectively to customers, stakeholders, and the broader community, highlighting Atlassian's advancements in search relevance and quality.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should bring a robust combination of technical depth, strategic thinking, and hands-on expertise in building AI quality focused products. Key qualifications include:
  • 8+ years of product management experience, with substantial recent experience driving relevance and quality for a consumer or enterprise AI product.
  • Proven proficiency in defining and improving on relevance and quality measurement metrics.
  • Strong technical subject matter expertise, with a comprehensive understanding of search/ads technologies, natural language processing, and machine learning principles.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills, including the ability to independently analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and demonstrate the customer impact of improvements.
  • Deep user empathy and commitment to delivering exceptional experiences, with attention to detail that drives continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, maintaining alignment across diverse teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field preferred.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $193,500 - $252,625
Zone B: $174,600 - $227,950
Zone C: $161,100 - $210,325
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
