Context & Impact
Lansweeper is growing its engineering capability with a newly created Principal Software Engineer role focused on AI-native platform development across IT, OT, and Cybersecurity domains.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will help design and build the next generation of intelligent platforms, systems, and frameworks that combine modern distributed systems engineering with foundational AI and machine learning technologies. Your work will directly shape how Lansweeper delivers advanced visibility, automation, analysis, and orchestration capabilities across enterprise infrastructure, industrial environments, networks, and security ecosystems.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Austin, Texas, with 2 days onsite per week.
AI Fluency
At Lansweeper, we are building an AI-native engineering culture. We expect all engineers to actively use AI tools (such as Claude) in their day-to-day work to improve efficiency and output quality across the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, documentation, and system design.
Challenge
The main challenges you'll face are :

• Maintaining engineering rigor and system quality in an AI-assisted development environment
• Scaling systems while balancing performance, reliability, and architectural clarity
• Coordinating parallel AI-driven development workflows without losing technical coherence

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance software platforms and services for IT, OT, and cybersecurity environments
• Develop AI-native capabilities for visibility, automation, analysis, orchestration, and operational intelligence across enterprise and industrial ecosystems
• Build scalable backend systems, distributed services, data pipelines, and real-time processing frameworks
• Work on technologies involving network discovery, protocol analysis, telemetry, asset intelligence, and security analytics
• Integrate foundational LLM and machine learning technologies into operational and engineering workflows
• Drive adoption of modern AI engineering methodologies and AI-assisted software development practices across the engineering
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural direction, technical standards, and engineering best practices

Key Requirements
Hard Skills

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong programming expertise in C++, Go, or Rust
• Proven experience building distributed systems, backend platforms, or infrastructure software at scale
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture, concurrency, scalability, and systems performance
• Practical understanding of foundational LLM and Machine Learning concepts and how they apply to production systems
• Experience working with AI-assisted engineering workflows and modern developer productivity tooling

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with network-related technologies, protocols, and enterprise IT or OT environments
• Experience with cybersecurity analysis tools, frameworks, SIEM, EDR, or threat intelligence systems
• Cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes ecosystems, streaming systems, or observability frameworks
• Exposure to vector databases, RAG architectures, or AI inference systems
• Contributions to open-source projects or developer ecosystems

Soft Skills

• Deep technical curiosity and systems thinking with a pragmatic approach to problem solving
• Strong ownership mindset and engineering craftsmanship
• Collaborative approach with a genuine passion for mentoring and growing other engineers

AI Specific Skills
Lansweeper is an AI-native company currently undergoing a company-wide AI transformation across all departments and engineering functions. In this Principal Software Engineer role, you are expected to actively embrace and apply AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based workflows as part of your day-to-day engineering practice. Comfort working in an AI-native engineering environment - and a genuine passion for pushing the boundaries of what AI-assisted software development can deliver - is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.

Team Size: ~20 people within 12 months (currently 3 directs + Montreal team + potential US
team)
