DomainTools is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to join our Infrastructure team.

Our team’s mission is to accelerate cross-organizational collaboration as we confront the challenges of collecting, ingesting, processing, searching, alerting and contextualizing internet-scale data for use in threat defense and investigation.

DomainTools transforms vast amounts of streaming information about internet infrastructure into real-time threat intelligence. As an engineer on the Architecture team, you’ll work across the company to design, develop, and improve upon the foundations of the company’s technical strategy, to ensure that we can continue to design, develop, and operate internet-scale data systems efficiently, reliably, and securely.

Our work touches on every aspect of the system design life-cycle at DomainTools, from early technology evaluation to system design to infrastructure management and operations.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility position that requires tenacity, creativity, and strong collaboration skills.

If you’re passionate about making the impossible possible in order to make the internet a safer place, we want to hear from you!

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a foundation for real-time internet-scale data processing and management.
  • Design and develop a platform for software and infrastructure management spanning cloud and on-prem systems.
  • Develop and maintain observability tooling including logging, metrics, and alerting spanning cloud and on-prem systems.
  • Define technical standards and best practices as a leader in the engineering organization.
  • Reconcile complex, conflicting distributed architecture spanning multiple companies over multiple decades.
  • Provide technical leadership within DomainTools broadly.

Requirements
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must not only to dive deep into difficult technical problems, but bring others along for the ride as well.
  • 7+ years experience in some combination of software/hardware/systems engineering or leadership in technical operations.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale orchestration systems.
  • Experience working with major internet protocols and standards (DNS, Whois, RDAP, etc.)
  • Experience with and passion for working in the internet security space.
  • Experience stepping across organizational boundaries to solve problems.
  • Strong understanding of architectural trade-offs at different orders of magnitude of scale.
  • Strong technologist, broadly conversant in modern approaches to software engineering, systems engineering, operations, and infrastructure management.
  • Able to articulate and defend designs from architectural first-principals
  • Able to adapt those designs to the realities of a complex business.
  • Strong desire to solve seemingly insurmountable technological and organizational problems.

Compensation: $180K - $230K base salary, plus a 15% annual bonus
