Description

Stampli is building finance software in a new way: AI-native, grounded in real financial workflows, and shaped by people who understand the work deeply. We are looking for a Principal UX Expert who can develop a deep understanding of the people we build for — from finance teams to procurement, reimbursement, and card-holding employees across the business, and the executives who decide whether to buy. Your job is to ensure we understand the persona and the problem before solutions are designed, so the right questions are asked early and UX gaps are caught before Design Review.

This is a senior individual-contributor role reporting to the VP of Product. You will be a leading source of US customer insight inside Product — close to the market, close to Sales and Customer Success, and a trusted partner to our Product Managers and design team. You will work alongside our design leadership, learning from each other and raising the bar on how deeply we understand our users and decision-makers.

This is not primarily a production-design role. Your impact comes from sharp customer insight, strong product judgment, and the ability to challenge and coach the teams around you. You may also work hands-on with wireframes, prototypes, and other design artifacts when that is the most effective way to test an idea or improve a solution.

What You Will Do
  • Run ongoing user research to build a first-hand understanding of Stampli’s users, buyers, administrators, and decision-makers — and learn where the product resonates, where prospects push back, and why.
  • Partner with Product Managers to validate the target persona and problem from feature initiation through Product Review, clarifying the real problem, workflow, and intended outcome.
  • Partner with Product Managers and designers from feature initiation through Design Review, bringing customer context, challenging assumptions, and surfacing persona gaps, missing scenarios, and usability risks.
  • Build and maintain Stampli’s persona libraries and operationalize them through AI-powered UX evaluation tools — including agents, skills, guardrails, and evaluators — that assess product concepts, prototypes, and designs throughout discovery and development.
  • Create or contribute to wireframes and prototypes when hands-on exploration is the most effective way to test a concept, communicate a recommendation, or improve a solution.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to shape product and UX copy and messaging based on deep persona and business-context understanding.
  • Partner with Product and Product Marketing on Product-Led Growth (PLG) and Product-Led Sales (PLS) experiments, helping identify the right flow for each feature, upsell, decision-maker, and business context.
What You Will Bring
  • 10+ years in UX, product design, service design, user research, or product strategy — with a track record of turning customer insight into shipped product.
  • A proven approach to deep user research — customer calls, recorded onboardings and demos, and behavioral analytics such as FullStory — and the ability to turn it into clear, actionable insight.
  • Senior in-house UX experience at a high-craft B2B SaaS product, or a background at a top-tier design or product consultancy. In either environment, you have remained accountable through implementation, launch, and iteration.
  • Deep understanding of finance personas and workflows — accounts payable, procurement, controllership, ERP, or fintech — and the ability to understand how these personas work, make decisions, and evaluate solutions.
  • Ability to apply deep persona and business-context understanding to product copy, UX copy, and messaging.
  • Experience with growth experimentation and a strong understanding of growth levers across Product-Led Growth and Product-Led Sales.
  • Strong systems thinking and product judgment, with the ability to challenge teams constructively and work hands-on with wireframes and prototypes when useful.
  • Comfort working across Product, Design, Sales, Customer Success, and Product Marketing — and across US and Israel time zones.
  • Hands-on experience structuring research into reusable persona libraries, evaluation criteria, and AI workflows, including building or configuring agents, skills, guardrails, and evaluators for research, prototyping, and product-quality assessment.
You Will Get
  • The flexibility of working from our Austin office three days a week, with the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Access to cutting-edge AI tools, including ChatGPT Enterprise, to enhance productivity, support innovation, and streamline daily workflows.
  • Opportunities and development for career and personal growth.

The base salary range for this position is $160,000- $180,000 plus Equity. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
