Last Energy is seeking a Process Engineer to support the design and improvement of advanced power plant systems. This role includes developing equipment specifications, performing engineering calculations, troubleshooting system issues, and improving tools and templates. This role will collaborate with a cross-functional team to shape project designs, scope, and goals that align with safety, reliability, and business needs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop equipment specifications, heat and mass balances, associated process calculations, mechanical layouts, and drive vendor coordination
  • Troubleshoot and complete root cause failure analysis on assigned projects
  • Responsible for maintenance and development of calculation tools and other document templates
  • Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team for the development of conceptual design and estimates
  • Understand the project delivery process and help define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals, safety and reliability, and improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience as a mechanical or process engineer
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information to both project team members and clients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing start-up environment
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Experience as a process engineer and project engineer coordinating multiple disciplines in the execution of large industrial capital projects is preferred
  • Experience working on studies, estimates, and detailed design of power plants in an EPC role including proficiency with use and creation of P&IDs is preferred
  • Experience with boilers, steam turbines, boiler feedwater treatment, condensers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, fans, tanks, compressed air systems, pipes, valves and other balance of plant equipment associated with power generation is preferred
