About Paradromics

Brain-related illness is one of the last great frontiers in medicine, not because the brain is unknowable, but because it has been inaccessible. Paradromics is building a brain-computer interface (BCI) platform that records brain activity at the highest possible resolution: the individual neuron. AI algorithms then decode this massive amount of brain-data, enabling the seamless translation of thought into treatments.

Our first clinical application, the Connexus® BCI, will help people who are unable to speak, due to ALS, spinal cord injuries and stroke, to communicate independently through digital devices. However, the capabilities of our BCI platform go far beyond our first application. With the brain in direct communication with digital devices, we can leverage technology to transform how we treat conditions ranging from sensory and motor deficits to untreatable mental illness.

The Role

As a Process Engineer, you will own and optimize critical in-house manufacturing processes including polishing/lapping, cleaning, and mechanical assembly. Over the next 12–18 months, you will drive measurable improvements in yield, reliability, and cycle time through both hands-on work and cross-functional collaboration. You will also lead non-conformance investigations and implement robust process controls to support scalable, high-quality production.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve in-house processes including lapping/polishing, cleaning, and mechanical assembly
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using structured methodologies to increase yield, throughput, and reliability
  • Investigate and disposition non-conformances, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actions
  • Develop, qualify, and validate manufacturing processes and equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Characterize and optimize cleaning and surface preparation processes to ensure long-term stability and performance
  • Create and maintain clear, effective SOPs and manufacturing documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, reliability, and supply chain teams to ensure process robustness

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience developing and optimizing cleaning, polishing, or surface preparation processes, including control of key variables (e.g., chemistry, temperature, pressure, frequency)
  • Experience driving yield improvement using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., DOE, 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa)
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., MedTech, Aerospace) with non-conformance handling and root cause investigations
  • Strong data analysis skills, including data extraction, statistical analysis, and visualization
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise SOPs and technical documentation
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with thin film cleaning, sample preparation, or pre-treatment processes
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) to design fixtures or error-proofing solutions
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T

Paradromics is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.

What you need to know about the Austin Tech Scene

Austin has a diverse and thriving tech ecosystem thanks to home-grown companies like Dell and major campuses for IBM, AMD and Apple. The state’s flagship university, the University of Texas at Austin, is known for its engineering school, and the city is known for its annual South by Southwest tech and media conference. Austin’s tech scene spans many verticals, but it’s particularly known for hardware, including semiconductors, as well as AI, biotechnology and cloud computing. And its food and music scene, low taxes and favorable climate has made the city a destination for tech workers from across the country.

Key Facts About Austin Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 180,500; 13.7% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Dell, IBM, AMD, Apple, Alphabet
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, hardware, cloud computing, software, healthtech
  • Funding Landscape: $4.5 billion in VC funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Live Oak Ventures, Austin Ventures, Hinge Capital, Gigafund, KdT Ventures, Next Coast Ventures, Silverton Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Texas, Southwestern University, Texas State University, Center for Complex Quantum Systems, Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, Texas Advanced Computing Center
