We are seeking a Procurement Manager to support our work as a utility-scale energy storage and renewables leader. You will be responsible for supporting the development, growth, and execution of Aypa’s renewables procurement platform of energy storage, solar hybrid technologies. This position will include direct interfacing with vendors, informed market analytics, and contracting support. This role is core to fostering Aypa’s growth with targeted and informed investment in the right equipment, suppliers, service providers, and legal counsel. In this role, you will drive procurement strategies, negotiate complex supply and long-term service agreements, and maintain strategic vendor relationships while ensuring we achieve our economic targets, quality standards, and project timelines.  

The right candidate needs to be comfortable learning and adapting with an evolving industry, working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, nurturing relationships with providers, performing contracting, and collaborating with internal and external teams across the organization and industry. Success requires balancing competitive sourcing pressures with relationship building, technical problem solving with commercial rigor, and addressing immediate project needs with long-term strategic considerations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Lead all sourcing activities for BESS and solar equipment, including market assessment, RFP development, vendor evaluation, and contract execution;
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that optimize price competitiveness, technical specifications, delivery reliability, supplier stability, and risk mitigation;
    • Manage comprehensive equipment supply agreements encompassing scope, commercial and payment terms, logistics, quality standards, and warranty provisions; 
  • Vendor Management & Networking:
    • Actively build, maintain, and prioritize key vendor and contractor relationships, including regular meetings to be a subject matter expert for Aypa on each of these supply segments and vendor status; 
    •  Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert and ensure vendor alignment with company objectives; 
  • Negotiation and Deal Execution
    • Lead negotiations on complex commercial and technical terms; identify creative solutions to overcome obstacles and drive deals to closure;  
  • Cross team Collaboration: 
    • Partner closely with Engineering, Construction, Legal, and Development to ensure requirements are captured within Supply contracts and recommendations;
    • Work closely with internal and external resources to structure, negotiate, and close project transactions; 
  • Process Improvement
    • Champion procurement efficiency initiatives that enhance operational scalability, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience;
    • Continuously evaluate and recommend process improvements to support company growth; 
  • Transaction Support:
    • Work closely with internal and external resources to structure, negotiate and close project transactions related to acquisitions, financings, and divestitures, as well as commercial and technical contract agreements; 
  • General
    • Provide procurement insights and recommendations to inform company business plans, development strategy, and long-term supply chain positioning; 
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Procurement experience with progressive responsibility in sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor management; 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Procurement experience in utility-scale renewables, high-voltage procurement, and/or thermal procurement; 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field; 
  • Strong technical foundation: ability to understand equipment specifications, performance requirements, and technical trade-offs. Can confidently lead and engage in technical discussions with suppliers and internal stakeholders; 
  • Experience in supporting the successful execution of EPC and supply contracts; 
  • Solid understanding of utility-scale renewable energy project development, U.S power markets, transmission interconnection, and economic drivers for renewable projects; 
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, including a demonstrated proactive work ethic. As part of a lean and dynamic team, the candidate must be able to plan, oversee, and personally execute numerous projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities.  

Compensation and Location:

Salary:Base salary and bonus that is commensurate with experience; 
Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on both individual performance as well as the overall success of the business

Location:Hybrid (USA)Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Preference is given to candidates located in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate. Remote will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 
Travel: Candidate must be willing to travel 10-20% for supplier qualification, vendor engagement opportunities, and conferences.
