This is a remote position.

A high-volume story-discovery and production role that turns raw human experiences found on social media into compelling short documentaries for large audiences.

Organization: Confidential client in the media sector
Location: Remote – open to candidates anywhere in the world (candidates in Palestine and the wider region are especially welcome)
Role Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Fully remote with flexible, non-timebound hours.

The opportunity

Our client is looking for a producer who can discover an extraordinary human story and help the person behind it tell it to the world. Sometimes that starts with a TikTok, a comment or a passing reference to something someone has lived through. Your job is to recognize the bigger story, get in touch, build trust, interview them and guide them through filming the footage that brings it to life, then work with editors to turn it into a compelling film of roughly ten minutes for YouTube and Snapchat.

About the organization

Our client helps the 99% be seen by empowering people to tell their own stories, because traditional media focuses on the 1%. The team has published almost 8,000 videos, filmed by people themselves on their mobile phones and remotely guided through the process. Its channels cover mental and physical health and survivor stories.

What you will do

  • Discover original human stories across TikTok, other social platforms and online communities, using social search, AI-assisted research and emerging tools to find promising contributors.
  • Run high-volume outreach: the team works toward roughly 30 contacted sources per day, knowing that around one in ten converts to a signed content license agreement and interview, with a goal of three published stories per day.
  • Assess whether a story has the depth, access and visual potential to become a strong film, and convince contributors to take part.
  • Research and verify stories rigorously: check claims against documented evidence, make sure health stories match documented symptoms, and keep survivor stories safe from legal risk, working through checklists with a QC layer above you.
  • Conduct thoughtful interviews that uncover specific experiences, meaningful moments and a clear narrative.
  • Remotely direct contributors to film themselves and their everyday lives on their phones, using clear filming briefs written for people with no production experience.
  • Develop story outlines and edit scripts with strong hooks, progression and a satisfying ending, and work with editors to shape interviews and user-generated footage into compelling films
  • Read retention and performance data from platform dashboards and use it to improve story selection, structure and delivery.

What you bring

  • At least three years of relevant experience in journalism, interviews and developing human stories, including remotely directing contributors and producing user-generated content.
  • Genuine fluency in US culture and social media: you know what is on the pulse with American audiences right now, especially Gen Z, and how to cater content to it, not just how the platforms work.
  • A thorough understanding of TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and Facebook, and experience structuring unscripted content for social audiences.
  • Strong confidence using AI in your workflow: research, condensing interviews, drafting outreach and speeding up editing. You do not need to be an AI specialist, but you should instinctively reach for AI tools to work faster.
  • Comfort with editorial responsibility: verification, factual accuracy and keeping sensitive stories legally safe.
  • Sensitivity when working with people sharing traumatic or deeply personal experiences.
  • The organization to manage contributors, footage and production deadlines across multiple stories at once.
  • Your application must include your portfolio: links to published work together with the performance results behind it.

Helpful, but not essential

  • Experience reading and acting on analytics from platform-native dashboards and third-party tools for YouTube, Snapchat and Facebook.
  • Experience with lighter lifestyle verticals such as travel, food or fashion.
  • Experience managing or growing a Discord or similar community.
