Job Title: Product Designer - UI & Design Systems
Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Reports to: SVP of Product
Location: Austin

Role Summary:

We are looking for the architect of our design language and the guardian of our user experience consistency. You'll obsess over the pixel-perfect details that make our products not just functional, but delightfully intuitive. With your experience building design systems and deep love for crafting scalable UI components, you'll create the foundation that empowers our entire product ecosystem to grow cohesively. You're the type of designer who gets genuinely excited about auto layout constraints, celebrates when you've perfected a component's hover states, and can't help but evangelize the beauty of a well-documented design system. In this role, you'll work closely with fellow Designers, Product, and Development Teams to create our design system from scratch, build prototypes, and ensure that every interaction reflects the inKind brand experience across every platform.

Who You Are:

  • You have a great eye for UI design - you have that which cannot be taught.
  • A Design Systems Evangelist: You live and breathe component libraries, you see design systems not as overhead, but as the foundation for innovation and consistency.
  • Figma Power User: You're the person teammates come to with their trickiest Figma questions. Auto layout, component variants, and advanced prototyping features are your playground.
  • Systems Thinker: You don't just design screens—you design the rules, patterns, and principles that enable beautiful, consistent experiences to scale. You’re opinionated about version control and file organization.
  • Collaborative Communicator: You know how to articulate design decisions, document patterns clearly, and work cross-functionally to implement your vision.
  • Passionate about our mission: You can see the value this role brings to us, our restaurant partners, and our customers.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Create Exceptional User Experiences: Design visually captivating and functionally superior features for our websites and mobile apps, with meticulous attention to visual hierarchy, typography, color usage, and micro-interactions that make complex tasks feel effortless and delightful.
  • Build Our Design System: Create, maintain, and evangelize our Figma component library as the single source of truth for our design language. Design comprehensive UI components with multiple variants, states, and interaction patterns, applying systems thinking to ensure scalable solutions that work harmoniously across all products and platforms.
  • Design for Inclusivity: Ensure all designs meet accessibility best practices (e.g., color contrast, text alternatives, focus states, keyboard navigation) and advocate for inclusive design in every stage of the process. Partner with developers to ensure accessibility is implemented, tested, and maintained.
  • Document and Govern Design Standards: Create thorough design documentation including visual specifications, behavioral guidelines, design tokens, spacing systems, and implementation notes. Establish design QA processes and monitor system adoption to ensure consistency across teams and touchpoints
  • Collaborate Cross-functionally for Seamless Implementation and consistency: Create comprehensive design specifications and visual assets that enable seamless developer handoff and maintain brand consistency

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role building and scaling design systems with component libraries, documentation, and governance processes.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma.
  • Experience with responsive design and cross-platform consistency.
  • Awareness of accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and experience applying inclusive design practices in digital products.
  • Basic knowledge of frontend development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better collaborate with engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design experience within consumer hospitality marketplaces and software.
  • Experience conducting accessibility audits, usability testing with diverse users, or partnering with engineering to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Experience with motion design, micro-interactions, and animation principles.
  • Experience in growth level startups, building processes to scale.

Work Environment:

  • The candidate in this position will be primarily located in an office environment and be exposed to lighting, temperature, and noise level conditions typical of that environment
  • This position is primarily in-person, with an expectation of in-person work at the physical office location in Austin, Texas 4 days a week.

Some of our Benefits:

  • Generous PTO and company holiday policy + company paid Short Term Disability
  • 100% employer covered health and dental insurance for our direct employees (a set plan is covered, with higher tier healthcare coverage available at employee's additional cost; dependent coverage is at employee's cost); vision plan available at employee's additional cost
  • Child Care Benefits and generous parental leave
  • Dog-friendly workspace in a secure building with great views of downtown Austin
  • Daily lunches and snacks

Salary:

  • $95,000 - $100,000, DOE
