DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Research and experiment with leading/emerging data governance and processing methodologies and technologies to facilitate advanced analytics use cases. Develop metrics and procedures for assessing, managing and characterizing meta-data and dataset consumption. Guide the building of logical/physical data models. Contribute to data architecture and data management strategy design. Conduct architecture discussions as well as code and perform code reviews in Java, Python, SPARQL and/or SQL. Partner with CCB's Data Publishers and Product Owners in cross-disciplinary teams to improve how they publish their information. Help discover, profile, acquire, process, model and own data for the solutions. Advocate the adoption of open-sourced data processing pipelines and algorithms to help clients manage and anticipate data needs from varied structured and unstructured data sources including traditional relational stores, other NoSQL databases, and social media, news, internal/external documents, emails, and others. Participate in collaborating with the firm's Chief Data Offices and Technology Functions to develop standards and best practices. Participate in relevant industry and governance groups. Influence key stakeholders to define tasks and guidelines for workflows and manage decisions throughout the product lifecycle. Build product backlog, prioritizing items to achieve Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) as well as keep it up-to-date. Ensure product features and processes align with applicable Discover compliance and risk management standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field of study plus 10 years of experience in the job offered or as Product Director, Senior Manager of Data Engineering, Senior Ab Initio Developer/Lead Data Engineer, Associate - Projects/Lead Data Engineer, Analyst Programmer, Assistant Systems Engineer, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree in Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or as Product Director, Senior Manager of Data Engineering, Senior Ab Initio Developer/Lead Data Engineer, Associate - Projects/Lead Data Engineer, Analyst Programmer, Assistant Systems Engineer, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires seven (7) years of experience with the following: using Java, Python, and SQL; data management; data risk controls management; technical product management; stakeholder management including cross-functional collaboration, conflict management, and influencing; using Pyspark and any Massively parallel processing data warehouses such as Snowflake or Teradata; any UI based ETL tool such as Ab Initio; Databases including Oracle or MySQL; Unix Shell scripting and scheduling tools; Building cloud-based solutions for data ingestion, transformation and analytics; Agile methodology and the product life-cycle; Distributed computing and Parallel Processing; building tech solutions for business problems using AWS; system design for data engineering applications. This position requires knowledge of full stack application development including UI, APIs, and backend databases.
