About Us:

Monarch is a powerful, all-in-one personal finance platform designed to help make the complexity of finances feel simple again. Since launching in 2021, we’ve become the top-recommended personal finance app by users and experts. Our goal? To take the stress out of finances so our members can focus on what truly matters.

We are a team of do-ers led by experienced entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping our members reach their financial goals. We are hyper focused on building a product people love and continuing to evolve based on user feedback.

As a fully remote company (even before COVID!), we welcome applicants from almost anywhere. Our team collaborates synchronously mostly from 9 AM – 2 PM PT and embraces asynchronous work to stay connected across time zones.

Join us on our mission to transform lives by simplifying money, together.

The Role:

Monarch is hiring Software Engineers (Senior, Staff, and Principal) to join one of our Product Engineering teams. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will help drive the evolution of our web and mobile applications while shaping both our product strategy and engineering culture.

This role offers high autonomy, broad ownership, and meaningful influence over our tools, processes, and team dynamics. You’ll work closely with product, design, and cross-functional partners to build exceptional user experiences and deliver features that help people improve their financial lives.

Below, you’ll find more information about the teams we’re currently hiring for:

  • Tracking & Collaboration: The Tracking & Collab team builds features that help users understand their current financial world — transactions, investments, accounts, reports, recurring expenses, retail sync, collaboration, and household management.

  • Planning & Advice: The Planning & Advice team creates experiences that help users plan ahead and take action — budgets, goals, AI-powered insights, the Monarch Method, and financial guidance tools.

  • Growth: The Growth team builds product experiences that help Monarch reach more users and guide them toward financial success. They focus on rapid experimentation, A/B testing, improving onboarding, and driving customer engagement and retention.

  • Aggregation: The Aggregation team owns the experience of connecting banks and financial institutions to Monarch, which allows our users to see your whole financial life in one view.

  • RevX: Our newest pod at Monarch works on identifying and executing ways to augment our product offering at Monarch. They work on validating and building out zero-to-one user experiences.

What You'll Do:
  • You will play a critical role in growing and evolving our web and mobile app.

  • You will be more than just a software craftsperson; you will also be a thought partner in building a product, company, and culture we are proud of.

  • You will have significant input into the processes, rituals, and tools we use in order to create a high performing engineering team.

  • You will typically work with a lot of autonomy, and be expected to "own" the full implementation of whatever you work on.

What You'll Bring:
  • You consider yourself a "product-centric" engineer and take pride in building something people love.

  • Working closely with product, design, and frontend teams excites you. You value their input and know how to integrate it into your work.

  • You're ready to jump into our on-call rotation, addressing any bugs or errors that arise with a calm, problem-solving mindset.

  • Sharing your knowledge and helping your team grow is something you're passionate about. You believe in the power of good documentation and effective mentoring.

Austin’s tech scene spans many verticals, but it’s particularly known for hardware, including semiconductors, as well as AI, biotechnology and cloud computing.
