Position Overview

At Contrarian Thinking, we help take back Main Street by buying and building businesses the smart way. We help build profitable, scalable businesses predictably, consistently, and less painfully. We buy businesses, teach our partners how to do acquisitions, then we help them scale to create enduring businesses they love to run. We’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager to own positioning, messaging, GTM, and lifecycle communication across our core products.

This role is responsible for defining who our products are for, how they’re positioned, and how they’re brought to market—from avatar (ICP) definition through launch execution, lifecycle messaging, and high-impact product content.

This role sits at the intersection of product, growth, and lifecycle marketing. It is a high-ownership role focused on clarity, execution, and measurable impact.

What You’ll Own

Customer Avatars & Segmentation

  • Develop and maintain clear customer avatars (ICPs) across all core products
  • Define stage-based segmentation (awareness → activation → conversion → retention)
  • Translate qualitative insight and performance data into actionable audience definitions

Product Positioning & Messaging

  • Own value propositions, differentiation, and core narratives per product
  • Build messaging frameworks that adapt by avatar, product, and lifecycle stage
  • Ensure consistency across launches, email, landing pages, and sales assets

Go-To-Market (GTM) Execution

  • Lead GTM strategy and execution for launches, relaunches, and major initiatives
  • Partner with product, growth, content, and events teams to align timelines and deliverables
  • Define launch goals, success metrics, and post-launch learnings

Lifecycle & Email Marketing (HubSpot)

  • Own lifecycle messaging strategy and execution in HubSpot
  • Build and manage email journeys, broadcasts, and segmented campaigns
  • Ensure lifecycle communication is intentional, timely, and product-aligned
  • Iterate based on performance, not volume

Product-Related Content Creation

  • Create high-impact, product-focused content tied to launches and GTM motions
  • Write core assets such as launch emails, product explainers, offer narratives, and enablement content
  • Serve as the source of truth for product messaging that other teams adapt across channels

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Act as the messaging source of truth across teams
  • Provide clear context and direction to ensure aligned execution
  • Bring structure and prioritization to fast-moving initiatives
    What We're Looking For
    • 5+ years of experience in product marketing, GTM, or lifecycle-led growth roles
    • Proven experience developing personas and turning insight into conversion-driving messaging
    • Hands-on experience managing email marketing in HubSpot
    • Strong writing skills for product narratives and launch content
    • Clear GTM instincts and comfort owning launches end-to-end
    • Ability to operate independently while driving alignment across teams
    • Located in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate
      What Makes You Stand Out
      • You can turn customer insight into messaging that converts, not just sounds good
      • You’ve led or supported successful GTM motions and know how to coordinate cross-functional execution
      • You understand lifecycle marketing as a strategic lever, not a batch-and-blast channel
      • You’re hands-on in HubSpot, comfortable building and iterating on lifecycle email flows
      • You write with clarity and conviction, especially when explaining complex or high-consideration products
      • You bring structure to fast-moving environments without slowing them down
      • You care about results and accountability, and you measure success by what actually moves the business
        Who You Are
        • Deeply customer-obsessed. You naturally think in avatars, motivations, objections, and moments of intent
        • Strong at turning insight into clear positioning, compelling narratives, and GTM plans that drive action
        • A clear, confident writer who enjoys creating high-leverage product content such as launch emails, product narratives, and lifecycle sequences
        • Strong communicator who can bridge the gap between marketing and sales
        • Comfortable owning ambiguity and moving work forward without perfect inputs or heavy direction
        • Naturally cross-functional. You bring clarity and alignment without relying on authority or hierarchy
        • Detail-oriented with excellent project management skills

This role is perfect for someone who gets excited about defining the customer, shaping product narratives, and bringing offers to market with clarity and precision. You’ll own how our products are positioned, launched, and communicated across the lifecycle, with the autonomy to turn insight into action and clear accountability to conversion and revenue outcomes.
