About the Role

The Product Research Manager will act as an extension of the product team, focusing on market-facing and customer-facing research activities. This role is designed to strengthen product decision-making by gathering, structuring, and delivering insights from markets, competitors, and customers. 

The Product Research Manager will also coordinate Alpha and Beta testing programs with customers, helping ensure the product team has the necessary feedback loops to refine new solutions.

This role is based in Austin, TX, with a hybrid work setup, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities: 

Market & Competitive Research

  • Conduct preliminary market research to support new product initiatives.
  • Analyze competitors by testing their products, joining demos, and benchmarking capabilities.
  • Translate competitive insights into practical implications for Product and GTM teams.
  • Deliver structured decision-ready research outputs Customer Discovery & Insights
  • Conduct interviews and conversations with customers to uncover needs, workflows, and pain points.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in customer workflows and existing solutions.
  • Segment current customers based on relevant criteria to inform rollout and adoption strategies.

Alpha & POC Testing Program Management

  • Define criteria for alpha testers and coordinate their recruitment and onboarding.
  • Manage the logistics of customer testing groups, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Partner with Product Managers in running feedback sessions, and independently lead sessions when needed to scale.
  • Consolidate learnings into actionable reports for the product team.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work with Product Managers to support discovery, validation, and pilot execution.
  • Partner with Customer Success to identify suitable customers for research and testing.
  • Share research findings with stakeholders across the organization to influence direction without owning strategy.
  • 2–5 years of experience in customer-facing market research, product research, customer insights, Customer Success, or solutions-oriented roles. 
  • Proven experience within a SaaS / B2B/ or technology environment.
  • Proven experience conducting live customer interviews, discovery calls, and feedback sessions - able to challenge assumptions and dig beneath surface-level answers.
  • Experienced working directly with customers in outbound motions (interviews, pilots, testing programs, beta groups, etc.).
  • Strong at synthesizing qualitative and quantitative insights into clear, structured recommendations.
  • Confident in managing multi-stakeholder initiatives across Product, CS, and GTM teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of driving multiple concurrent initiatives simultaneously and with autonomy

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in product management, UX research, or product marketing.
  • Familiarity with competitive analysis frameworks and research methodologies.
  • Background in running pilots, alpha/beta testing programs, or customer advisory boards.
  • Analytical skills for segmentation and insight generation.
  • Experience in healthcare, home care, or adjacent industries.
