Role Purpose

The Program Strategy Manager (PSM) acts as a technical and strategic adviser to assigned customers, helping them maximize the value of their Proofpoint products and managed services. The role is responsible for customer satisfaction, retention, program maturity, and identifying opportunities to expand the customer's security program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own and nurture relationships with assigned strategic customers.

  • Lead recurring customer meetings covering service performance, system status, key issues, emerging threats, and recommended actions.

  • Develop and maintain 12-month customer program roadmaps.

  • Identify short- and long-term security program goals.

  • Track roadmap deliverables, risks, dependencies, and deadlines.

  • Provide technical guidance regarding Proofpoint products, features, and functionality.

  • Coordinate complex production changes involving multiple services or technologies.

  • Manage customer escalations and advocate internally for resolution.

  • Monitor customer cases for accuracy, progress, and compliance with service-level objectives.

  • Help customers mature their security posture and demonstrate measurable program value.

  • Ensure delivery aligns with service briefs, standard operating procedures, and Proofpoint best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in professional services, client services, sales engineering, senior technical support, IT operations, or a similar technical role.

  • Experience working across multiple technology areas.

  • Understanding of email, networking, and data communication technologies.

  • Working knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange.

  • Strong written, verbal, and customer-facing communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to resolve conflict and approach problems from multiple perspectives.

  • Experience working in or supporting a 24/7 security operations environment.

  • Ability to communicate the evolving cybersecurity threat landscape to customers and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP), threat protection, or information security experience.

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or PMP.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets as set out below. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity. We offer a competitive benefits package, including flexible time off, a comprehensive well-being program with two paid Wellbeing Days and two paid Volunteer Days per year, plus a three-week Work from Anywhere option.

Base Pay Ranges:

SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:

Base Pay Range: 77,500.00 - 113,630.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 61,200.00 - 89,760.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 56,100.00 - 82,280.00 USD
