Mission

TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies.

We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack.

We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction.

Leave your mark on the future of civilization-scale energy infrastructure.

Company

TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure. (TAR is working directly with one of the largest compute providers to scale and deploy 5GWs by 2028)

We operate on…

  • High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed.

  • Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We push ourselves to go faster.

  • First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption.

  • Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future.

About the role

As Project Controller, you own cost controls, forecasting, and reporting for a utility-scale campus in active execution and the GW-scale pipeline behind it, and you support project financing through financial close, lender reporting, and funding requests. This is a role for an experienced project controls professional (5+ years), based in Austin with regular time on site in West Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Own project cost controls, cost management, forecasting, and reporting across our solar and storage campuses, giving founders and project leadership an accurate, current view of committed and forecast cost.

  • Administer EPC and supply contracts to ensure financial compliance, invoicing schedules and requirements, and tight cost control across every agreement TAR holds directly with contractors and Tier-1 OEMs.

  • Track commitments, change orders, invoices, and payment applications, keeping every dollar reconciled against contract terms and budget.

  • Maintain the project controls systems that serve as the single source of truth for project cost across procurement, construction, and finance.

  • Build project budgets and cost baselines with project leadership as new campuses move from development into execution.

  • Support project financing activities, preparing lender reporting, funding requests, and the cost documentation that financial close depends on.

  • Surface cost risks, trends, and variances early and drive them to resolution with procurement and construction teams, so decisions keep pace with an aggressive schedule.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls or cost management roles on major capital projects.

  • Construction project control experience within an EPC, infrastructure company, or owner of other major capital projects.

  • Experience with project financing requirements, including lender reporting, funding requests, and financial close deliverables.

  • Command of contract administration mechanics: commitments, change orders, invoicing, and payment applications.

  • Fluency with project controls and cost management systems, with strong analytical rigor.

  • High ownership and precision, with the judgment to operate at startup speed on decisions with real financial consequence.

Nice to have
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector, especially utility-scale solar and battery storage.

  • Experience with project budgets exceeding $100M.

  • Owner-side experience administering contracts directly with OEMs and construction contractors.

Salary and Benefits
  • Up to $15K relocation bonus

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Health, Dental, Vision insurance

  • $1K monthly stipend for meals
