This is a remote position.

Objectives:

Reporting to the SIS Application Manager, the SIS Azure Public Cloud Engineer will serve as the primary technical lead for the district's multi-tenant Azure environment with a specialized focus on disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity. This role is responsible for designing and implementing robust recovery strategies for various disaster scenarios, including physical site failures, security breaches, and cybersecurity incidents. The Architect will ensure that critical educational and administrative systems remain resilient through comprehensive incident response planning, cybersecurity defense integration, and the development of offline process preparations to guarantee continuous service delivery to our schools and students.

Scope

- Design and manage a multi-tenant Azure architecture that prioritizes high availability and rapid recovery across diverse disaster scenarios.

- Lead the development and testing of Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) specifically tailored to cybersecurity defense and incident response.

- Develop and refine technical contract language for the primary application vendor to ensure strict adherence to district disaster recovery standards and recovery time objectives.

- Coordinate and facilitate comprehensive tabletop exercises with internal stakeholders and external vendors to validate incident response readiness.

- Plan annual disaster recovery process testing, ensuring all vendor-managed and district-hosted applications meet compliance requirements.

- Implement automated failover and recovery processes for cloud-based applications to minimize downtime during physical disasters or security breaches.

- Collaborate with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to integrate cloud architecture with active cybersecurity defense measures and incident response protocols.

- Develop "offline process" playbooks and preparation strategies to ensure essential district functions can
