  • Create test strategies that ensure solutions meet standards of functionality, performance, reliability, and payment industry requirements.
  • Collaborate with team leads and engineering resources to plan the testing approach across web, API, and terminal layers.
  • Execute end-to-end testing of the full transaction lifecycle, from card presentment at the terminal through processor response, settlement, reporting, and reconciliation, according to set deadlines.
  • Test terminal behavior across entry methods (chip, contactless/NFC, swipe, manual entry), PIN entry, receipt generation, and error handling.
  • Test device-specific scenarios such as connectivity loss, offline or store-and-forward modes, power interruption, and firmware and application updates.
  • Perform API testing of payment, webhook, and reporting endpoints, validating request/response accuracy, error codes, and idempotency.
  • Verify web components, including merchant portal, hosted checkout, and admin tools, across browsers and devices.
  • Support and complete test orchestration across environments, test cards, sandbox and processor simulators, and device fleets, using analysis, experience, and sound decision-making.
  • Record, log, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, logs, and transaction IDs, and coordinate resolutions with the development team and functional leads.
  • Assess test results to quickly identify and document defects, including discrepancies in transaction amounts, statuses, fees, or settlement data.
  • Support certification and compliance testing, such as card brand, EMV, acquirer/processor, and PCI-related requirements.
  • Direct projects from a quality assurance perspective, keeping both the merchant and the cardholder experience in mind.
  • Independently own a workstream or product line (for example, terminal software, merchant portal, or payment APIs), covering review and testing activities throughout the project life cycle.
  • Maintain the device test lab, including terminals, peripherals, test cards, and firmware versions.
  • Participate in daily engineering meetings to update teammates and management on status.
  • Assist the in-house support team with product defect exploration, as needed, including:
    • High-level technical assistance and escalations for merchants, partners, and internal staff.
    • Troubleshooting and analyzing issues related to transactions, terminals, reports, and data.
