About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

Base is looking to hire a Quality Engineer to support our in-house manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, safety, and reliability of our manufactured components and assemblies. You will work collaboratively with hardware design and manufacturing engineering teams to define and implement quality standards, product and process requirements, and manufacturing quality control plans. Base is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

What You'll Do

  • Define and implement manufacturing quality control plans across our factory

  • Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to build design and process FMEAs, and drive risk reduction activities to improve manufacturing processes

  • Support the development of Base’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 requirements

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate QMS into production, engineering, and supply chain processes

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions

  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement

  • Lead corrective and preventive action processes to address non-conformances

  • Set up non-conformance work streams and rework processes to support manufacturing

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to quality system effectiveness

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and internal quality policies

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field

  • 3+ years of manufacturing quality experience

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA)

  • Experience with quality tools such as statistical process control (SPC), measurement systems analysis (MSA), and general statistical data analysis

  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams and train staff

  • Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor is a plus

About the Team

The Manufacturing Quality team is responsible for building the systems, processes, and standards that ensure every product leaving our factory meets the highest levels of safety, reliability, and performance. We partner closely with Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production teams to identify risks early, solve complex quality challenges, and continuously improve our manufacturing operations. As we scale production, this team plays a critical role in establishing a culture of quality, driving operational excellence, and ensuring our products are built right the first time.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
