General Purpose:
Responsible for the development of test methods and procedures needed to determine the dimensional features of products, validation and production inspections of all products produced from manufacturing and assembly processes.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Apply fundamental ASME Y14.5 and/or ISO GPS principles to interpret, evaluate, and communicate dimensional and geometric requirements accurately.
- Perform accurate measurements using manual inspection tools (dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.) and assess measurement results for validity and repeatability.
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Creo, MBD) to design, interpret and collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing.
- Leverage understanding of manufacturing processes and common manufacturing defects to anticipate variability,
- Develop, execute, and maintain inspection programs using CMM software platforms (e.g., DMIS, PC-DMIS, Calypso, Metrologic, Modus, Micro‑VU, GOM, Geomagic).
- May create and maintain custom data-processing and automation tools (Python, JavaScript, Java, SQL, etc.) to enhance data analysis, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
- May apply basic statistical methods to measurement data, supporting evaluation of uncertainty, trends, and decision-making.
- May support and apply Measurement System Analysis (MSA) concepts to ensure reliable and capable measurement systems.
- Continuously identify opportunities to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity, balancing technical rigor with practical time constraints.
