POSITION OVERVIEW

The Referral Partner Recruiter is responsible for identifying, signing, and activating referral partners who send merchants to Kurv throughout the active relationship. This is a hunter’s role.

Referral partners serve small businesses or have connections to merchants in some manner but do not sell or manage payment processing themselves. Kurv owns the merchant relationship and handles underwriting, onboarding, and support, while the partner earns recurring commissions as the merchants they refer continue to process.

This role is directly accountable for new referral partner signings and for getting each partner to a first referral quickly, and works closely with the Recruiting Team, Relationship Managers, and Internal Teams within Kurv to optimize their production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source and qualify referral partners across target groups: CPAs and accounting firms, web developers and eCommerce agencies, IT and managed service providers, business consultants, and industry advisors
  • Run disciplined outreach by phone, email, LinkedIn, and networking, following the Recruiter SOP outreach cadence standards and logging all activity in Zoho the same day
  • Explain the referral program in plain language to non-payments professionals, including how referrals are submitted (online form or CRM/API integration), how Kurv underwrites and supports the merchant, and how recurring commissions work
  • Execute referral agreements on the current approved agreements, and route any custom terms to management for approval before promising them
  • Onboard each new partner with assistance from the Relationship Manager assigned: welcome call, referral set-up (form link or integration with Technology), and guidance on which merchants fit Kurv’s underwriting appetite
  • Drive early activation by following up until each partner submits a first referral by coordinating with the Relationship Managers and the appropriate Sales Teams assigned.
  • Track the referral pipeline end to end (partners signed, referrals submitted, approved, and processing) and submit a complete weekly report to your direct report manager
  • Potentially represent Kurv at trade shows, professional associations, and events to source partners and build the referral program’s reputation
  • Respond to every partner the same day, following the Solve the Agent and Sundown Policy standards, and escalate stuck referrals or commission questions to the right owner

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or channel partnerships; payments or merchant services experience preferred
  • Strong track record of outbound prospecting and relationship building with business owners and professional advisors
  • Ability to explain commission and residual economics clearly to people outside the payments industry
  • CRM discipline: same-day logging, accurate statuses, and clear weekly reporting (Zoho preferred)
  • Working knowledge of merchant processing and underwriting basics, or the ability to learn them quickly
  • Comfort coordinating simple integrations (online forms, CRM or API referral submission) with Technology
  • Willingness to travel for industry trade shows and events as needed

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Consistent monthly new referral partner signings against target
  • Improving activation rate (signed to first referral merchant submitted)
  • Growing numbers of approved, processing merchants from referral partners
  • Disciplined Zoho logging and clear, actionable weekly reporting
