At Harris, our culture is the foundation of everything we do. We believe in respect for the individual, straightforward communication, relentless discipline in pursuit of operational excellence, and empowering people to make decisions at the point of contact. We value common-sense problem solving, accountability, and continuous learning. We also support both personal and professional dream realization, knowing that engaged people build exceptional products and partnerships.

If these values resonate with you, you’ll feel at home here. If they don’t—Harris is likely not the right fit.

We’re seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our production systems. You’ll blend engineering skill with operational discipline to build resilient services, reduce toil through automation, and partner with development and customer-facing teams to deliver consistently excellent experiences.

A critical component of this role includes customer support and customer-facing collaboration. You will work directly with support teams—and at times with customers themselves—to troubleshoot issues, communicate clearly, and help drive solutions forward. Because we believe bad news does not get better with time, transparency and timely communication are essential.

This role fits someone who thrives in an environment that expects ownership, reality-based decision making, and solutions—not problems.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. Up to 5% of travel is required within North America. A valid passport/visa is required for the travel.

Salary:

60-100K USD

80-120K CAD

What your impact will be:

  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the reliability, availability, and performance of production systems.
  • Collaborate with Customer Support to address escalated cases, ensuring timely, respectful, and clear communication.
  • Engage directly with customers when needed to diagnose issues, explain technical details, or gather context.
  • Bring customer feedback and recurring patterns back to engineering teams to drive long-term improvements.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code environments (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, communicating early, often, and transparently.
  • Conduct root cause analysis with a focus on deep understanding, cause-action clarity, and shared learning.
  • Develop automation that reduces manual work and accelerates issue resolution.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing—because communication is only real when understanding is achieved.
  • Make decisions at the point of contact and take ownership of outcomes, avoiding finger-pointing.
  • Apply disciplined, practical thinking to solve problems quickly and effectively.

What we are looking for:

  • 5–8+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related engineering/operations role.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Strong experience with Ansible.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, and distributed system fundamentals.
  • Experience with Fortinet Fortigate firewall/vpn, switches.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, Bash, Go, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (Grafana, metrics, logs, traces).
  • Extensive experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and incident management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities—especially when dealing with customer-facing scenarios.
  • A mindset aligned with learning, ownership, accountability, and respect.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% within North America.

What would make you stand out:

  • Experience working in customer support or support-adjacent technical teams.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer certified.
  • Software engineering experience.
  • Cloud or Kubernetes certifications (OCI/AWS/GCP/Azure, CKA/CKS).
  • Cybersecurity Certifications.

What We Offer

  • 3 weeks' vacation and 5 personal days
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision starting from your first day of employment
  • Employee stock ownership and RRSP/401k matching programs
  • Lifestyle rewards
  • Remote work and more!
