Sales Development Representative
Remote-based position
ABOUT SUBTEXT
Subtext is a two-way SMS platform that helps media, sports, music, automotive, and political brands build direct, owned relationships with their audiences, bypassing algorithms and third-party platforms. We're backed by Advance, growing fast, and building a real go-to-market engine from the ground up.
THE ROLE
We're growing our outbound engine and hiring Sales Development Representatives to generate net-new pipeline for our Account Executive team. You'll often be the first conversation a prospect has with Subtext: identifying target accounts, creating engagement through outbound prospecting, and qualifying inbound interest before handing off qualified opportunities to AEs. This is an individual contributor role reporting into the VP of Sales.
The base salary range is $53,000 to $63,000 per year. Additional incentives bring total potential compensation to $71,000 to $81,000.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Outbound prospecting: generate interest through cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, and social outreach to prospects within your target accounts.
- Inbound qualification: qualify inbound leads generated through our marketing efforts and convert them into net-new meetings.
- Account targeting: identify and prioritize top prospects and key targets within your coverage as our territory structure comes online.
- Meeting generation: schedule qualified discovery calls for Account Executives and keep the handoff clean.
- Process feedback: share what's working and what isn't in outbound campaigns and account coverage with the VP of Sales and Sales Ops as we refine the SDR playbook.
EXPECTATIONS
- Meet or exceed daily activity minimums: 40 calls and 20 emails per day
- Build and maintain a strong top-of-funnel pipeline, looking for 12 meetings booked per month and 4 opportunities
- Keep CRM data clean and current, it feeds directly into the forecasting Sales Ops is building
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous sales experience or a genuine passion for business development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of resilience; comfortable bouncing back from a day full of no's
- Strong self-starter instinct: you'll work to learn what you don't already know rather than wait to be shown
- Extremely coachable and quick to act on feedback
- Comfortable in a CRM; Salesforce experience a plus
